What to Do If the Office Chair Is Written with Bad Words
Admin October 08, 2026
If bad words are written on the office chair, you can choose targeted methods for treatment based on the type of handwriting and the material of the chair. Before operation, conduct a small-area test in an inconspicuous place.

Determine the Type of Handwriting
- Pencil handwriting: It is light in color, grayish, and has a powdery feel when touched. You can directly use an eraser to gently rub in one direction. After erasing, use a dry cloth or the cold air setting of a hairdryer to blow away the eraser shavings.
- Ballpoint pen or gel pen handwriting: It is dark in color, mostly blue, black, or red, and the ink may be slightly raised or have seeped in. You can dip a small amount of 75% medical alcohol and use a cotton swab or soft cloth to wipe it. If there is no alcohol, you can apply essential balm and let it sit for 3 minutes before wiping. You can also mix dishwashing detergent with white vinegar, apply the dishwashing detergent first and let it sit for 5 minutes, and then pour a little white vinegar to wipe.
- Oil-based marker (permanent marker) handwriting: It has bright and full colors, and the ink is glossy and not easily smudged by water. Alcohol wiping is the first choice, which has a significant effect on smooth surfaces such as plastic and metal stools. Secondly, you can try toothpaste. Squeeze a small amount on the handwriting and rub it in a circular motion with a damp soft cloth. For very stubborn marker stains, you can purchase a special marker cleaner.
- Black carbon pen handwriting: You can use a cotton ball dipped in an appropriate amount of alcohol to gently wipe it. Alcohol can dissolve the ink of the carbon pen. You can also squeeze an appropriate amount of toothpaste on the stain and gently wipe it with a soft cloth or sponge. You can also use a cotton ball dipped in white vinegar to repeatedly wipe the stain. Using an eraser to gently wipe may also have a certain effect on lighter stains.
Treatment Based on the Chair Material
- Leather chairs: When there are stains on the surface, first wipe off the dust with a damp cloth, then apply a leather cleaner, wait for three minutes, and then wipe in a circular motion with a soft cloth. When encountering oil-based handwriting, use a cotton swab dipped in 75% medical alcohol to gently wipe it, and finally apply a leather conditioner to prevent cracking.
- Wooden chairs: When cleaning, wring the cloth very dry and act quickly. After wiping, immediately use a dry cloth to absorb the moisture to prevent water stains from seeping in and causing the wood to deform and crack. It is not recommended to frequently use liquid cleaners. For daily care, just wipe with a dry soft cloth or a cloth dipped in a small amount of wood care agent. When encountering adhesive residues, first heat and soften them with a hairdryer, then soak them in olive oil for ten minutes, and gently scrape them off with a plastic scraper.
- Plastic chairs: The material is water-resistant and corrosion-resistant, with few cleaning restrictions. You can directly wipe it with a damp cloth combined with a neutral detergent or dishwashing detergent. For stubborn stains, you can make a paste with baking soda and dishwashing detergent.
- Fabric-covered chairs: For water-based ink, first gently wipe it with a damp cloth. If there is still residue, drop a few drops of white vinegar on the stain and then wipe it with a damp cloth. If the ink stain is very stubborn, mix dishwashing detergent and water in a certain proportion to make a cleaning solution, and use a soft cloth dipped in the cleaning solution to gently wipe the stained area. For oil-based ink, use a cotton ball dipped in an appropriate amount of alcohol to repeatedly wipe the stain.
