Turkish Office Chair
Admin October 08, 2026
The Turkish TS standard is a technical specification for the quality and safety performance of office chairs, with durability testing as its core content. It specifies the durability performance indicators that office chairs must meet when simulating daily use, in order to assess structural integrity, functional retention, and safety.

- Seat Durability Testing: This test focuses on simulating the common action of a user sitting down and standing up. The seat is repeatedly loaded using specialized equipment, with the number of loading cycles typically reaching tens of thousands or more. It primarily examines the deformation of the seat cushion, such as whether significant indentations occur after long-term use; the recovery ability, i.e., whether the seat cushion can return to its initial state after being stressed; and changes in the internal support structure, ensuring that the support structure does not loosen or become damaged under repeated stress, thereby guaranteeing the comfort and stability of the seat during long-term use.
- Back Durability Testing: This test simulates the action of a human back leaning against the chair, applying a load to the chair back at a certain frequency. It focuses on evaluating the connection points of the backrest to see if they are secure and whether they loosen or break; the tilt mechanism, for chairs with adjustable tilt angles, to check if the adjustment mechanism still functions properly after long-term use; and the durability of the backrest material itself. For chairs with adjustable backrests, the durability of the adjustment mechanism is also a key testing item, ensuring that the adjustment function remains sensitive and effective after multiple uses.
- Armrest Durability Testing: This simulates the pressure and movement of the arms on the armrests, including vertical downward pressure testing and horizontal thrust testing. It inspects the stability of the armrest connections to prevent loosening that could cause the armrests to wobble; and the material strength to ensure that the armrests do not break or deform under pressure and thrust, providing stable arm support for the user.
- Caster and Base Testing: The chair is made to slide repeatedly on different surfaces under a load to check the wear of the casters, to see if they can still rotate normally after long-term sliding and whether there is excessive surface wear; and the rotational flexibility to ensure that the casters can rotate easily, facilitating chair movement. At the same time, specialized pressure tests are conducted to verify the strength and fatigue resistance of the base, ensuring that the base does not deform or become damaged under the weight of the human body and after long-term use.
- Stability Testing: This assesses the chair's resistance to tipping over in different usage states, including forward, backward, and lateral stability. During testing, specified forces are applied to the seat and backrest to measure the chair's tilt angle and recovery ability, ensuring that the chair does not tip over easily during use, thereby safeguarding the user's safety.
