The Office Chair Button Is Broken
If the office chair button is broken, targeted repair measures can be taken according to different fault conditions.

Most Common Buttons Malfunction
- Foreign Objects Stuck in the Gap: Gently brush around the buttons with an old toothbrush, or use the cold air setting of a hairdryer to blow away debris. Then, use a dry cotton swab dipped in anhydrous alcohol to wipe the contact surface at the bottom of the buttons. Alternatively, use a small soft-bristled brush to clean debris from the gaps, and use a cotton swab dipped in 75% medical alcohol to wipe the surface and edges of the buttons. Let them dry for 3 to 5 minutes before testing.
- Wired Remote Control Buttons: Check if the connecting wire is loose. Unplug the connector and reinsert it firmly to ensure it is properly seated without any looseness.
- Wireless Buttons: Replace the batteries with a new set. Low battery levels can cause the buttons to respond slowly, delay, or fail completely.
- Oxidation of Metal Contacts Inside the Buttons: Carefully pry open the button panel with your fingernail or a small plastic piece, and sand the oxidized layer of the contacts with fine sandpaper. After cleaning, reassemble the panel. Alternatively, open the fixed buckle of the button module, use a flat small screwdriver to pry open the cover, inspect and sand the oxidized contacts, and then reassemble for testing.
- Worn or Thinned Silicone Pad at the Bottom of the Buttons: Cut a matching silicone sheet and place it at the bottom. If the elastic rubber pad is aged, deformed, and loses its elasticity, find a replacement of the same size. You can dismantle an old rubber pad from a discarded button of the same type for adaptation.
Office Chair Height Adjustment Button Malfunction
- Displacement of the Operating Handle: Turn the seat upside down and check if the end of the control handle can accurately touch the small metal dot at the top of the pneumatic rod. If misaligned, use a wrench to adjust the position of the fixing screws on the base.
- Increasing the Trigger Stroke: If the handle cannot touch the pin when pressed all the way down, attach a hard spacer above the pin to compensate for the wear gap.
- Lubrication and Cleaning: Spray a small amount of WD-40 or sewing machine oil into the gap of the pin, and press the handle repeatedly several times until the pin rebounds smoothly.
Office Chair Angle Adjustment Button Malfunction
It is necessary to inspect aspects such as the microswitch, drive chain, spring, wires, the fit gap between the keycap and the internal mechanism, hydraulic device, metal housing, electronic control module, gear set, and friction of moving parts. Replace damaged parts, adjust gaps, replenish hydraulic oil, reset the control module, apply lubricating grease, etc., according to specific issues.
If none of the above methods work, it is likely that the internal switch of the button is damaged. It is recommended to contact the chair manufacturer's after-sales service for handling. Especially for chairs with pneumatic rods, do not forcibly dismantle them yourself to avoid the risk of air leakage or sudden movement. For high-end chairs with intelligent circuits, if there is no response after troubleshooting, it is likely that the circuit board is damaged. Directly contact the brand's after-sales service to replace the entire button module. Do not forcibly dismantle the circuit part.
