Sliding Office Chair Installation

Admin October 12, 2026

The installation steps for a sliding office chair are as follows:

1. Check Components
Upon receiving the goods, carefully check the quantity and types of components. The standard configuration includes: 1 backrest, 1 seat, 1 five-star base, 5 casters, 1 gas lift, 1 butterfly plate (tray), 1 pair of armrests (2 pieces), several screws (including Torx screws), and 1 headrest pillow (for some models where the backrest and seat are integrated). If any components are missing or the models do not match, contact the merchant promptly for replacements.

2. Install Casters and Gas Lift

  • Caster Installation: Insert the 5 casters one by one firmly into the five leg holes of the five-star base. Some domestic casters may require significant pressure to secure tightly due to non-standard specifications, ensuring no looseness.
  • Gas Lift Installation: Invert the five-star base with the casters installed, insert the thick end of the gas lift into the center hole of the five-star base, and press gently until fully embedded. If the chair comes with a protective shell, install it simultaneously to protect the gas lift.

3. Install Armrests

  • S800 Model: Unscrew the nuts and washers that come with the armrests and set them aside. Align the armrests with the screw holes on both sides of the backrest, insert the washers and nuts in sequence, and tighten them with a wrench to about 90% tightness.
  • Regular Models: Armrests usually have 3 holes and need to be aligned with the holes on the backrest before installation. Avoid excessive force that could damage the threads, and washers are mandatory to distribute pressure.

4. Secure Butterfly Plate and Backrest

  • Butterfly Plate Installation: Align the butterfly plate with the screw holes at the bottom of the seat, secure it with 4 fine screws, and insert the thin end of the gas lift after tightening, pressing gently.
  • Backrest Connection: Align the backrest with the rear holes of the butterfly plate, insert washers, and secure it with 3 coarse screws. Tighten each screw one by one with a wrench until there is no wobbling.

5. Overall Assembly and Testing

  • Align the gas lift with the center hole of the butterfly plate and press down firmly on the seat 3-5 times to ensure a secure connection. Pull-up seat test: If the seat can easily detach, the installation is not complete.
  • Install the headrest (if applicable): Insert the headrest into the top slot of the backrest and tap gently to check the tightness. If it is too loose, retighten the fixing screws.
  • Safety Screws (if applicable): Some chairs require inserting small screws at the bottom of the five-star base as a detachment prevention device. This step is often overlooked but is crucial.

6. Final Inspection
After installation, avoid sitting on it immediately. Manually shake the seat, backrest, and armrests to check for any looseness, unusual noises, or wobbling. Only use it normally after confirming everything is in order.

Precautions:

  • All washers must be installed, and if missing, use alternative materials to make up for it.
  • Tighten screws to about 90% tightness to avoid stripping or cracking plastic parts.
  • Keep the gas lift vertical during installation to prevent tilting that could cause lifting failure.
