Skateboard and Office Chair
“mobilité” is an innovative product that combines the functions of a skateboard and an office chair, offering a fresh perspective on mobility in the workplace.

Design Background and Target Users This product was developed collaboratively by designers Tim Defleur and Benjamin Helle, primarily targeting two groups of people: first, workers who wish to move around the office in a more flexible and enjoyable manner; second, skateboard enthusiasts who cannot sit still for long periods and seek to alleviate fatigue from prolonged sitting through dynamic activities. The original design intent was to break the limitations of fixed seating in traditional office settings, redefining workplace interaction by integrating the mobility of skateboards with the comfort of office chairs.
Structural and Functional Features
- Skateboard Part: Made of solid foam material, this skateboard combines lightweight properties with a certain degree of elasticity, providing stable support. It is covered with a thick felt pad on the outer layer, which not only enhances the comfort of the contact surface but also reduces noise during sliding, avoiding interference with the office environment.
- Seat Part: The backrest is designed as a freely adjustable structure, allowing forward or backward movement. Users can adjust their sitting posture according to their needs, meeting comfort requirements in different work scenarios. The seat surface is connected to the skateboard via a slot, and when mobility is required, the backrest can simply be pulled out of the slot, allowing the skateboard to be used independently.
- Conversion Mechanism: Switching from a seat to a skateboard is simple and quick, requiring no additional tools. After jumping onto the skateboard, users can control direction and speed with their leg strength, enabling rapid short-distance movement, such as from the workstation to the conference room or printer.
Application Scenarios and Advantages In open office spaces, “mobilité” can effectively reduce time wasted due to frequent getting up and walking around, while enhancing work efficiency through dynamic movement. For skateboard enthusiasts, it meets the need to continue their exercise habits in an office setting, alleviating physical fatigue caused by prolonged sitting. Additionally, its unique design also possesses certain social attributes, potentially becoming a focal point of conversation in the office and promoting interaction among colleagues.
