Shenzhen Office Chair Disassembly and Assembly

Admin October 13, 2026

The disassembly and assembly of office chairs in Shenzhen can be carried out according to the following general methods, which require a combination of tools and standardized steps:

I. Installation Process

  1. Assembly of Casters and Chair Legs: Align the casters with the holes on the chair legs and insert them vertically, ensuring that the buckles are fully embedded. If the casters are threaded, tighten them clockwise until they cannot wobble.
  2. Installation of the Pneumatic Rod: Insert the pneumatic rod vertically into the central hole of the chair legs, keeping the rod perpendicular to the ground to avoid damaging the internal seals due to tilting.
  3. Fixing the Chassis to the Seat: Use a cross-head screwdriver to secure the chassis to the bottom of the seat through the pre-drilled screw holes. Tighten the screws symmetrically to prevent uneven stress.
  4. Connecting the Backrest: Align the metal bracket of the backrest with the slot on the back of the seat and press gently until a 'click' sound confirms that the buckle is in place. If the backrest is adjustable, install the angle adjuster simultaneously and test the damping feel.
  5. Overall Assembly: Align the seat-chassis assembly with the top of the pneumatic rod and insert it, pressing gently until it is fully seated. Finally, install the armrests (secured with screws on both sides of the chassis) and the headrest (inserted into the pre-drilled hole at the top of the backrest).

II. Disassembly Process

  1. Separating the Backrest: Rotate the backrest angle adjuster counterclockwise to the maximum angle. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the plastic buckles connecting the backrest to the seat, and lift upwards with both hands to separate them.
  2. Removing the Base: Raise the pneumatic rod to its highest position. Hold the edge of the seat with one hand and continuously press the lift lever with the other hand while shaking it left and right. Use leverage to separate the base from the pneumatic rod.
  3. Extracting the Pneumatic Rod: Invert the chair legs and gently tap the metal ring at the bottom of the pneumatic rod with a rubber mallet. If the connection is too tight, place a wooden board between the chair legs and the ground, and use a wrench to grip the root of the pneumatic rod and rotate it counterclockwise to unscrew it.
  4. Handling Stubborn Connections: For cases where the five-claw base is stuck to the seat, step on the center of the base with your foot and grasp the edge of the seat with both hands, shaking it up and down quickly to loosen the connection through inertia.
  5. Repairing the Wheels: Insert a pair of needle-nose pliers into the gap between the wheels and the five-claw base, and gently pry to detach the wheels. If the wheel axle is rusty, spray a small amount of rust remover before operating.

III. Tools and Precautions

  • Essential Tools: Cross-head/flat-head screwdrivers, an adjustable wrench (for adjusting screws), a rubber mallet (to reduce metal damage), a pry bar (for separating buckles), and needle-nose pliers (for removing wheels).
  • Safe Operation: Take photos of the structure before disassembly to avoid misassembling parts. The pneumatic rod is under high pressure internally and should not be disassembled by yourself. Store parts in categories to prevent losing screws or buckles.
  • Special Cases: If the office chair has electric functions (such as massage or heating), disconnect the power supply and remove the wire connectors first. When disassembling a leather seat, avoid scratching the surface.

Tip: If you encounter problems such as stripped screws or air leakage from the pneumatic rod during disassembly and assembly, it is recommended to contact professional maintenance personnel for handling to avoid damaging the furniture or causing personal injury due to forced operation.
