Office Chair Tutorial Assembly: Tools & Common Problems

Admin October 28, 2026

The tools required for Office Chair assembly include a Phillips screwdriver, an Allen wrench, a piece of padding cloth, and a parts box. Common issues include problems with parts, installation sequence, mechanism orientation, backrest locking, and caster and gas lift rod issues.

Parts Issues: Mixing up screws of different lengths is a common mistake. Different screw specifications correspond to specific installation positions. Mixing them up can lead to stripped threads, affecting structural stability, and may require subsequent disassembly and reinstallation. Installing the armrests backward will make the chair asymmetrical, affecting comfort and aesthetics. Missing screws can result in loose structural connections, posing safety risks. After installation, carefully check that all screws are properly installed.

Installation Sequence Issues: Failing to follow the correct installation sequence can cause numerous problems. For example, installing the mechanism before the armrests can misalign the holes, making subsequent armrest installation difficult or even impossible, potentially requiring disassembly of the mechanism and increasing workload and difficulty.

Mechanism Orientation Issues: Installing the mechanism backward can severely affect the chair's functionality. The backrest's recline and height adjustment functions depend on the correct installation orientation of the mechanism. If installed backward, these functions will not work properly, reducing the chair's practicality.

Backrest Locking Issues: Failing to lock the backrest properly after inserting it into the mechanism can cause the backrest to wobble, affecting the user experience and safety. When installing the backrest, ensure it is properly locked into the mechanism by gently shaking the backrest to check if it is secure.

Caster and Gas Lift Rod Issues: If the casters are not properly aligned when pressed vertically into the five-star base, they may not be securely installed, affecting the chair's mobility stability and potentially causing movement issues or caster detachment. If the gas lift rod is not properly aligned when placed into the base, it can affect the chair's height adjustment function and even damage the gas lift rod. Ensure proper alignment of the casters and gas lift rod during installation.
