Pulley Office Chair Accident

Admin October 10, 2026

Pulley office chairs may have two main issues: health hazards and safety risks.

Health Hazards

Office chairs with wheels may cause damage to body parts such as the lumbar spine. Due to the mobility of pulley chairs, users may unconsciously adjust their sitting posture or move frequently. This unstable sitting posture keeps the lumbar spine in an uneven stress state, which can easily lead to lumbar spine damage over the long term. Moreover, the convenience of pulley chairs may make people more inclined to sit for long periods. As a result, various body parts lack necessary movement, and muscles and bones do not receive sufficient exercise and relaxation, leading to degeneration. This degeneration can trigger a series of uncomfortable symptoms, such as lower back pain due to excessive pressure on the lumbar spine and lack of movement; back pain caused by prolonged tension in the back muscles; neck pain as the neck becomes stiff from prolonged sitting with poor posture; and wrist pain from maintaining a fixed position for a long time when using a keyboard and mouse.

Safety Risks

Pulley lifting chairs harbor hidden "fatal dangers." Most of the explosions occur in counterfeit swivel chairs that imitate products from legitimate manufacturers, and the explosion site is usually the chair's pneumatic rod. Insufficient purity of the gas filled in the pneumatic rod is an important factor. If the gas contains impurities, it may trigger a chemical reaction under specific conditions, leading to an explosion. Unqualified materials are also dangerous. Inferior materials cannot withstand the normal pressure and friction of use and are prone to breakage, causing accidents. In high-temperature environments, the gas inside the pneumatic rod expands due to heat, increasing the pressure. If it exceeds the material's load-bearing limit, an explosion will occur. Frequent friction can also damage the surface of the pneumatic rod, reducing its safety. Additionally, although the probability of an explosion caused by gas leakage from the pneumatic rod is low, it cannot be ignored. Leakage may lead to unstable internal pressure in the pneumatic rod, which could also trigger an explosion under extreme circumstances.
