Our First Recyclable Pavilion Closes Successfully: A New Model for Low-Carbon Offices

Admin September 28, 2026

The office furniture show at the 2024 China International Furniture Fair (CIFF) has come to a successful close. With the goal of creating a future zero-carbon office scene, Yihang built a zero-carbon-friendly, naturally recyclable office space of tomorrow. Wandering through the exhibition hall, with light and shadow accompanied by greenery and the rhythm of art, visitors could truly feel how "sustainability" across different dimensions blends organically into one โ€” becoming a lifestyle that connects with the inner self and flows as naturally as breathing.

How do we build a sustainable workplace and help consumers truly live a "sustainable" life? It should not remain a lofty, metaphysical concept far out of reach for ordinary people. As a leading practitioner in the office furniture field, Yihang has delivered its own answer to sustainability: only by following nature can things cycle onward and thrive without end.

I. Welcome to the "Zero Deep Meets Deer" Forest-Style Office Experience Hall

From afar, Yihang's booth, surrounded by bamboo, is draped in large swathes of green plants cascading down its facade. This vibrant, nature-filled style makes passersby curious and eager to step inside Yihang's "Zero Deep Meets Deer" concept exhibition to find out more.

People often say, "There is no waste, only resources in the wrong place." The wooden pallet fences at the entrance are the best proof. These solid-wood pallets from Yihang's own factories have been sensibly reused, saving energy and giving a new lease on life to resources that would otherwise be discarded. Paired with plants kept with their roots intact, they present a vision of fusion between home, nature, and zero carbon.

II. A Zero-Carbon Office Space: Designing for Sustainability

As the way people work evolves, the office is no longer just a place to work โ€” it now serves a social function, connecting people and their emotions, and doubles as a flexible, shared workspace. Right at the entrance, the exhibition hall creates just such a dynamic, open, and beautiful "hybrid workspace".

The open layout breaks down boundaries and lets different activities work together in harmony, opening up more possibilities for work. Imagine a team here โ€” some focusing, some talking, some lingering, some enjoying a cup of coffee... The good times at work leave behind many pleasant moments.

Movable training tables and whiteboards form the team's communication hub, while hand-folded art pieces and scattered greenery give the whole space a warm, natural atmosphere. Sofas with a homey feel and high bar stools add a modern, refined sense of line, showing how a dynamic, fun, resource-saving shared workspace is well within reach.

The zero-carbon concept continues from the shared space into the Weidu (Dimension) space. Set against well-placed greenery, modular sofas and coffee tables that can be freely rearranged and come with storage offer flexible possibilities for a variety of meeting scenarios โ€” and an efficient way to raise resource utilization.

III. As the Buzz of the Fair Fades, Reflections on Sustainability Emerge

At CIFF, Yihang raised a clear banner for exploring "sustainable ways of working". Its essence lies not in solving today's carbon-emission problems on the spot, but in opening a door to another world for the sustainable design of today's workplaces.

The bamboo used at the fair has already been recycled and sent to take root at Yihang's Hangzhou headquarters โ€” the Yihang Science and Technology Innovation Park โ€” while the wooden pallets were shipped back to the Jiangdong production base for continued use.

Moreover, a good exhibition venue should also carry diverse ways of thinking, weaving fluid humanistic activities through the static space. At the roadshow, we invited the pavilion's lead designer Wu Huanhuan, Zhuang Huabin, Senior Manager of Sustainability Disclosure and Management Consulting at PwC, Han Shen, Director of the International WELL Building Institute, and designers from Woods Bagot to share the latest progress in exploring sustainable spaces.

Yihang will continue to explore sustainable design approaches and weave environmental principles into every detail, "bringing nature into the office" so that nature and humanity can live in harmony. We look forward to more people joining the ranks of sustainable design and contributing together to the future of our planet.
