Office Chair Wandering Solution

Admin October 09, 2026

The issue of office chairs wandering can be resolved by replacing special wheels, using fixers, or increasing resistance and anti-slip measures. Here are the specific methods:

1. Replace or install brake/gravity self-locking wheels
Braked casters achieve locking through foot pedals or manually flipping the brake pads, suitable for scenarios requiring precise positioning, such as when fixing the chair position for detailed operations during office work. Gravity self-locking wheels utilize the human body's weight to trigger the locking mechanism. When a person sits down or applies a certain pressure to the desktop, the wheel axle automatically locks, eliminating the need for manual operation. This type of wheel is particularly suitable for family environments with children or where chairs need to be moved frequently. These wheels directly restrict wheel rotation through mechanical structures, addressing the sliding issue at its root.

2. Use wheel fixers (clamps/blocks)
Wheel fixers restrict wheel rotation through physical structures. Their design resembles "little shoes" that can be clamped on both sides of the casters. Installation requires no tools, and they are compatible with various wheel diameters. They also prevent the wheels from directly locking and scratching the floor. For example, when used on wooden floors or tiled surfaces, they can fix the chair's position while protecting the floor material. Some fixers are made of silicone or plastic materials, achieving anti-slip effects by increasing friction while retaining a slight buffer space for wheel movement to prevent chair tipping due to complete locking.

3. Increase resistance and anti-slip measures
Place rubber or felt anti-slip pads under the wheels or at the points where the table legs contact the ground to prevent sliding by increasing friction. Rubber pads have a rough surface that effectively disperses pressure and enhances grip; felt pads adhere to the ground through their fibrous structure, suitable for smooth surfaces. This method is cost-effective and easy to operate, but regular checks on the wear of the anti-slip pads are necessary, and timely replacements should be made to maintain effectiveness.

4. Choose locking wheels with switches or upgraded fixers
For the issue of chairs being too slippery and unstable to sit on, locking wheels with switches can be selected to control wheel rotation by manually switching between locked and unlocked states. Additionally, upgraded versions of universal wheel fixers are equipped with adjustable Velcro straps that can fit more tightly around the wheels to prevent sliding. For example, some fixers have two grooves designed in the middle to precisely align with the wheels. After being fixed with Velcro straps, they form a stable structure, suitable for scenarios requiring frequent adjustments to the chair's position.
