Components Under Office Chairs

Admin October 12, 2026

The components under office chairs mainly include the base, gas lift, five-star base, and casters.

Base: As the core adjustment hub of an office chair, the base plays a crucial role in connecting the seat, gas lift, and five-star base. It not only provides structural support but also integrates multiple adjustment functions. Through the control devices on the base, users can easily adjust the seat height to accommodate different body heights and usage scenarios; the backrest recline function allows users to relax their bodies and relieve fatigue during work breaks; the recline angle locking function ensures that the backrest remains stable after being adjusted to a suitable angle, preventing accidental wobbling; the recline tension/elasticity adjustment function can adjust the rebound force of the backrest according to the user's weight and usage habits, providing a more personalized and comfortable experience.

Gas Lift: The gas lift is the core component for height adjustment in pneumatic lifting chairs. Its working principle is based on high-pressure nitrogen. The internally sealed steel cylinder is divided into upper and lower chambers by a piston, filled with high-pressure nitrogen. Under the pressure of the nitrogen, the piston generates thrust, enabling the seat to rise and fall. The quality and performance of the gas lift directly affect the safety and service life of the office chair. A high-quality gas lift should have stable lifting performance, good sealing, and durability to ensure no air leakage or jamming issues during use.

Five-Star Base: The five-star base is the 'safety foundation' that supports the user's entire body weight. It comes in various materials, commonly including nylon, steel, and aluminum alloy. Different materials of five-star bases have varying load-bearing capacities and characteristics. Nylon five-star bases are lightweight and cost-effective but have relatively weaker load-bearing capacity; steel five-star bases are sturdy and durable with strong load-bearing capacity but are heavier; aluminum alloy five-star bases combine the advantages of being lightweight and sturdy, offering good overall performance.

Casters: The material of the casters directly affects the smoothness of movement, noise level, and floor protection of the office chair. Common caster materials include nylon wheels. Nylon wheels have good wear resistance and impact resistance, allowing smooth movement on various floors while reducing floor wear. Additionally, some high-end office chairs use silent casters, further reducing noise during movement and providing a quieter and more comfortable user environment.
