Office Chair Tilts Forward
An office chair tilting forward can be caused by factors such as structural design, quality issues, connection problems, usage habits, incorrect assembly, or improper ground adaptation. Solutions include adjusting the tilt mechanism, tightening components, reinstalling the base plate, or adjusting the ground.

Adjust the Tilt Mechanism
Most office chairs are equipped with a tilt adjustment feature, typically located beneath the chair or at the connection between the seat cushion and the backrest. If the chair tilts forward due to its design or an unsecured adjustment device, try the following: Sit on the chair, reach under the seat cushion with one hand to find the adjustment handle, and while pulling the handle, shift your body weight slightly backward or forward to feel the change in the seat angle. Release the handle when the seat returns to a horizontal or comfortable angle, allowing it to lock automatically. If the chair has a forward-tilt function that is not needed, you can turn it off using the physical locking button on the chair base.Inspect and Tighten Components
Inexpensive chairs may have issues such as loose engagement between the gas lift and the five-star base, rusted or stripped connection screws. If the internal pressure of the gas lift is unstable or damaged, it may cause the front of the seat cushion to sink. If the screws connecting the five-claw base to the seat cushion are loose, the screws may not withstand the lever pressure when a user's weight is applied to the front, leading to forward tilting. It is recommended to check the torque of the base screws every six months to ensure they remain within the safe range of 15-20 Nยทm, using appropriate tools to tighten the screws or replace damaged components.Reinstall the Base Plate
If the forward-tilt adjustment lever is located on the left side of the chair base plate (when sitting facing forward), it is likely that the base plate is installed backward. In this case, turn the chair upside down (it is recommended to place a soft cloth underneath to prevent scratching the floor), unscrew the screws connecting the base plate to the seat cushion, rotate the base plate 180 degrees, and reinstall it so that the control lever is on the right side, restoring the correct structure.Adjust the Ground or Use Shims
If the chair is placed on a soft carpet, an inclined surface, or if debris is stuck in the caster brackets on a hard surface, it may tilt forward due to balance issues. This can be resolved by adjusting the caster lock function, using wooden shims to level the ground, or cleaning debris from the caster brackets.
