Office Chair Sponge Materials
There are mainly six types of sponge materials for office chairs: molded foam, reclaimed foam, regular foam, PU foam, memory foam, and spring foam.

Molded foam is made from polyurethane materials and processed through multiple procedures. Its density can be adjusted according to requirements, making it the most stable, healthy, and comfortable type of sponge. When used in office chairs, this material can provide users with relatively long-lasting support and a good sitting experience, suitable for long-term office work.
Reclaimed foam is produced by recycling and reprocessing industrial scraps. Its main feature is high cost-effectiveness, which can save funds for enterprises. However, due to being recycled and reprocessed, its performance may be slightly inferior to that of sponges made from virgin materials, but it is still used in some cost-sensitive office scenarios.
Regular foam is a common light-yellow sponge with a low threshold for use and is very soft. However, its elasticity is average, and it may collapse after long-term use, affecting the sitting experience. It is generally suitable for office chairs with low comfort requirements and low usage frequency.
PU foam, also known as polyurethane foam, has high elasticity and durability, and is flexible. Its density is generally around 25 - 30kg/mยณ. It has good moisture absorption, is antibacterial and anti-mite, providing office workers with a relatively healthy and comfortable sitting environment. It is one of the more popular sponge materials for office chairs.
Memory foam, also called slow-rebound foam, has excellent temperature sensitivity and body shape conformity, with a filling density generally between 50 - 80kg/mยณ. It is breathable and moisture-absorbent, and can automatically adjust its shape according to body temperature and pressure, providing personalized support. However, it is relatively expensive and is mostly used in high-end office chairs.
Spring foam uses high-quality steel wires to make springs, combined with foam sponge, forming a sturdy and elastic filling method. It is generally used for the seats and backrests of chairs, providing more stable support and better support force, suitable for office scenarios with high support requirements.
