Office Chair Size Parameters

Admin October 12, 2026

The size parameters of an office chair mainly include seat height, seat depth, backrest height, backrest width, backrest tilt angle, and seat tilt angle, as detailed below:

Seat height is the vertical distance from the seat surface to the ground, a parameter that significantly affects the user's comfort and health. Typically, the seat height of an office chair ranges from 35 to 45 centimeters, with fixed-height office chairs usually having a seat height between 40 and 45 centimeters. However, to accommodate people of different heights, it is advisable to choose an office chair with an adjustable seat height, with an adjustment range generally between 38 and 48 centimeters. An appropriate seat height allows the user's feet to rest flat on the ground, with the thighs parallel to the ground and the knees bent at approximately 90 degrees, reducing pressure on the legs and waist and preventing fatigue and injury caused by improper sitting posture.

Seat depth refers to the front-to-back length of the seat surface, generally ranging from 40 to 45 centimeters. An appropriate seat depth should ensure that when the user sits on the chair, the back can naturally rest against the backrest, while the buttocks are adequately supported, leaving some space between the back of the thighs and the seat surface to avoid compressing the leg's blood vessels and nerves. If the seat depth is too short, the buttocks will not receive sufficient support, leading to fatigue; if it is too long, the back will not be able to rest against the backrest, affecting the correctness of the sitting posture.

The backrest height is generally around 41 to 42 centimeters, providing support for the user's waist and back and reducing pressure on the spine. An appropriate backrest height should cover the user's waist and back, allowing the spine to maintain its natural physiological curve.

The backrest width ranges from 40 to 42 centimeters, with a wider backrest providing a larger support area, making the user's back feel more comfortable and relaxed. Additionally, the shape of the backrest should conform to ergonomic principles, fitting the natural curve of the human back.

The backrest tilt angle is the angle between the backrest surface and the horizontal line, generally ranging from 100 to 106 degrees. This angle allows the user's body to lean back slightly, reducing pressure on the spine while maintaining balance and stability.

The seat tilt angle is the angle between the seat surface and the horizontal plane, generally ranging from 2 to 5 degrees. An appropriate seat tilt angle can shift the user's center of gravity slightly backward, reducing pressure on the buttocks and promoting blood circulation.
