Office Chair Shredder

Admin October 10, 2026

An office chair shredder is a specialized device that utilizes dual-shaft shearing technology to efficiently process office chairs, capable of crushing materials such as wood, metal, and plastic, and enabling material separation and recycling. The following provides an introduction from the perspectives of core functions, selection considerations, working principles, and maintenance points:

Core Functions and Material Adaptability

The office chair shredder decomposes office chairs into 50-150mm fragments through the shearing, tearing, and squeezing actions of its dual-shaft interlaced blades. Its blades are made of high-strength alloy steel (hardness HRC58-62), with a main shaft rotation speed of 25-35rpm. The low-speed, high-torque design can handle metal materials (e.g., iron sheet thickness of 0.8-2.0mm). The equipment is equipped with an overload protection system that automatically reverses when encountering hard components to prevent jamming; some models are additionally equipped with shock absorption devices, reducing working noise to below 85 decibels. Furthermore, the shredding process can separate the metal, plastic, and wooden components of office chairs, and the recycled materials can be directly used for secondary processing (e.g., producing plastic products), enhancing resource utilization.

Key Selection Factors

  1. Processing Capacity Matching:
    • Small recycling stations (daily average of 1-3 tons): Choose 22-37kW small to medium-sized equipment with a feed inlet size of 600ร—800mm.
    • Medium to large recycling stations (daily average of 5-10 tons): Require 45-75kW large-scale equipment, and be equipped with a hydraulic pushing system to enhance efficiency.
  2. Material Adaptability:
    • Ordinary office chair iron sheets (0.8-1.2mm): Standard blades are sufficient.
    • Theater/auditorium seating (1.5-2.0mm): Cr12MoV material blades need to be selected to extend service life.
  3. Brand and Price:
Mainstream brands in the market include Zhongzaisheng Yaochuang, Fenglang, Xinhang, Dianqi, etc., with price ranges from 24,000 to 270,000 yuan. Selection should be based on a comprehensive consideration of budget and needs.

Working Principle and Discharge Control

The equipment drives interlaced blades through two counter-rotating main shafts, applying shearing force to the materials. During the crushing process, the iron sheet is first gripped and torn into strips by the blades, and then further crushed to the specified size. Discharge size is adjusted in two ways:

  1. Changing the sieve mesh size (standard 50mm, optional 30-80mm).
  2. Adjusting the blade clearance (new blades 0.3-0.5mm, blades with clearance exceeding 1mm due to wear need adjustment or replacement).

Maintenance and Safety Points

  1. Regularly check the blade clearance to avoid reduced crushing effectiveness or excessive blade wear due to wear.
  2. Select blade material according to material thickness; thick metal components require the use of wear-resistant materials such as Cr12MoV.
  3. Pay attention to equipment noise and vibration conditions, and promptly inspect and repair shock absorption devices or transmission components.
