Office Chair Seat Installation

Admin October 17, 2026

It is generally recommended to install an office chair seat from the bottom up. Here are the detailed installation steps and precautions:

I. Installation of Basic Components

  1. Assembly of Chair Base and Casters Insert the five rollers (casters) vertically into the reserved holes on the chair base one by one, ensuring that each caster is fully embedded and secure. Some chair bases feature a snap-fit design, and you should hear a 'click' sound to confirm proper installation.
  2. Installation of the Gas Lift Insert the gas lift vertically into the central hole of the chair base, keeping the piston end of the gas lift facing upwards. Avoid tilting during installation, as this may damage the gas lift or cause the chair to be unstable.

II. Connection of Core Structures

  1. Fixing the Seat Plate to the Chair Seat Align the seat plate (usually made of metal or plastic) with the mounting holes on the bottom of the chair seat, and securely connect them using four long screws (e.g., M6*30mm). Pay attention to matching the screw specifications during installation to avoid slippage caused by mixed use.
  2. Linking the Chair Back to the Chair Seat Fix the chair back to the chair seat using angle brackets (metal connectors). Insert screws (e.g., M6*25mm) from the inside of the chair back into the holes of the angle brackets, and tighten them until there is no wobbling. Some office chairs feature a snap-fit design, requiring you to align the slots and press firmly until they lock into place.

III. Installation of Functional Components

  1. Assembly of Armrests
    • If the armrests are integrated with the backrest, connect them using four M6*25mm screws.
    • If the armrests are connected to the seat cushion, secure them using four M6*30mm screws.
    • When connecting the armrest bracket to the armrest, tighten it with two M8*25mm screws and install a decorative cover to conceal the screw holes.
  2. Installation of the Headrest Align the metal rod of the headrest with the reserved hole at the top of the chair back, insert it, and then secure it from the back of the chair back using two M6*25mm screws, ensuring that the headrest is adjustable but secure.

IV. Installation Details and Precautions

  • Matching Screw Specifications: Different components require screws of corresponding specifications (e.g., M6, M8) for connection. Mixed use may result in structural instability or thread damage.
  • Vertical Installation of the Gas Lift: Tilting the gas lift during insertion may cause piston jamming, affecting the height adjustment function of the chair.
  • Checking Component Integrity: Before installation, confirm that all accessories (e.g., screws, angle brackets, decorative covers) are complete to avoid work stoppages.
  • Testing Stability: After installation, shake the chair, adjust the height, and recline the backrest to confirm that there are no unusual noises or looseness.

Tip: Some office chairs come with installation instructions. It is recommended to refer to the instructions first. For complex structures (e.g., reclining office chairs), you can contact after-sales service for video guidance.
