Office Chair Repair Tutorial

Admin October 12, 2026

The repair of different types of office chairs requires selecting corresponding methods based on the specific type of fault. Here are step-by-step solutions to common problems:

Leather Executive Chair Repair For minor scratches or abrasions on the leather surface, use a specialized multi-functional cleaner for deep cleaning. Spray the cleaner onto a non-woven cloth and wipe the damaged area in a circular motion, avoiding direct contact with the leather surface to prevent secondary damage. After cleaning, allow it to air dry naturally for 12 hours. If there are fine cracks, apply leather conditioner to seal them. For large-scale damage, it is recommended to contact a professional leather repair service for patching or reupholstering.

Solid Wood Chair Leg Repair

  1. Interface Preparation: Use sandpaper to remove wood splinters from the broken surface, ensuring a smooth and burr-free contact area.
  2. Adhesive Fixing: Mix epoxy resin in a 1:1 ratio, apply it evenly to the broken surfaces, and quickly align them. Use a pneumatic nail gun to drive 3-4 steel nails around the joint for enhanced stability.
  3. Surface Restoration: After the adhesive has fully cured, fill gaps with wood filler and drip 502 adhesive to accelerate solidification. Sand the surface smooth with 80-grit and then 200-grit sandpaper, and finally polish it with a cotton pad soaked in dewaxing solution.
  4. Coloring and Protection: Match the original wood color with wood stain, apply it by spraying or brushing, and lightly sand with fine sandpaper after drying. Repeat this process 2-3 times for the desired finish.

Sinking Office Chair Repair

  • Hose Clamp Method: Invert the chair and slide down the plastic skirt to expose the gas cylinder. Adjust the chair to the desired height, then tightly wrap a hose clamp of matching diameter (preferably one with a locking feature) around the metal part of the cylinder and secure it by rotating the clamp screws. To enhance friction, wrap 2-3 layers of rubber tape around the cylinder first.
  • PVC Pipe Method: Measure the diameter and length of the cylinder, and purchase a PVC pipe with an inner diameter slightly smaller than the cylinder's (requiring force to fit). Cut the PVC pipe lengthwise, sand the edges to prevent scratching the cylinder, and secure it in place with zip ties or tape to prevent sliding. This method is suitable for cylinders that are severely aged and continuously sinking.

Elevation Chair/Gaming Chair Troubleshooting

  1. Base Separation: Invert the chair and gently tap the connection between the base and the seat with a rubber mallet. Once loosened, grasp the edges of the base with both hands and lift to separate.
  2. Gas Cylinder Inspection: If the fault lies with the gas cylinder, tap its bottom with a rubber mallet (avoiding the middle safety catch) and observe for air leaks. When replacing, always choose parts with SGS/TUV certification and wipe the cylinder surface with a dry cloth before installation.
  3. Wheel Replacement: Five-pronged wheels can be pulled out directly with force. When installing new wheels, align them with the slots and press firmly until you hear a "click". If the wheels are stuck, use a screwdriver to pry the wheel axle edges for assistance.

Precautions: Cut off the power before any repair operation (for electric chairs), and wear protective gloves when using tools. If gas cylinder repair is involved, it is recommended to wear safety goggles to prevent parts from flying. For complex faults, it is advisable to contact professional repair personnel.
