Office Chair Recycling Process
The office chair recycling process typically covers evaluation, transportation, reuse, and other steps, forming a closed-loop resource cycle. Details are as follows:

Evaluation Phase
Recycling services first determine the value of materials through on-site evaluation. The quotation plan is formulated based on factors such as material (e.g., artificial wood, metal), condition, and brand. Taking an artificial wood office chair as an example, its structure consists of a panel, frame, and connectors. During recycling, it needs to be disassembled and classified: the panel can be processed into raw materials for recycled boards, the metal frame can be smelted for use in new product manufacturing, and the connectors can be reused after inspection and screening. For office chairs in administrative institutions, scrapping must meet specific criteria, including reaching the service life limit, being severely damaged and unrepairable, or being technologically obsolete and unable to meet usage requirements. After the using department submits a scrapping application, the technical department conducts an appraisal and evaluates the asset value.
Transportation Phase
Professional recycling teams provide one-stop services, including on-site transportation. The service scope usually covers specific regions (e.g., Beijing) to ensure response efficiency. During operations, strict safety regulations are followed. For example, professional tools are used when transporting large furniture to avoid secondary damage to the office chairs during transportation and to ensure the personal safety of the transporters.
Reuse Phase
Recycled materials can be transformed into various products through remanufacturing processes. Artificial wood can be crushed and reorganized for use in producing industrial products such as soundproof boards and pallets; metal parts can be cast to make hardware accessories; and even old furniture can be refurbished and re-enter the second-hand market. Office chairs in administrative institutions are approved by the competent authority and then handled according to their condition. If they still have usage value, internal transfer is prioritized; if they are severely damaged or technologically obsolete, they are sold through public auctions or negotiated transfers; if they have no repair value at all, they are entrusted to professional institutions for destruction. After the physical handling is completed, the asset accounts need to be adjusted promptly to ensure consistency between the accounts and the actual situation. Second-hand goods recycling companies mainly have two ways to handle old office chairs: one is to select furniture that can be reused for second-hand office furniture recycling or donation; the other is to hand over the furniture to government-designated renewable resource recycling companies for processing. During the handling process, an inventory needs to be conducted with the competent equipment department, records need to be made, a scrapping application needs to be submitted, and finally, it needs to be approved by the deputy general manager in charge.
