Adjusting the Recline of an Office Chair
There are several methods to adjust the recline of an office chair, depending on the chair's type and features. Choose the appropriate method based on your needs:

1. Adjusting the Recline Resistance (for chairs with resistance adjustment) If your chair is equipped with a recline resistance adjustment mechanism (usually located beneath the seat or on the side), adjust the resistance according to your body weight. Heavier individuals should set the resistance to a higher level to prevent a sudden drop when reclining; lighter individuals should set it to a lower level for easier reclining. If you need to recline slightly while working, set the resistance to a moderately high level to maintain a natural and supportive posture. To adjust, locate the resistance knob or dial and rotate or slide it in the indicated direction.
2. Unlocking/Locking the Recline Angle (for chairs with button locks) Some chairs have buttons on the side or beneath the seat to control the locking and unlocking of the recline function. Pushing the button inward locks the chair, allowing only seat height adjustments and preventing changes to the recline angle; pulling the button outward unlocks the recline function, enabling you to tilt the seat backward to a comfortable angle. After adjusting, push the button inward again to lock the current angle. Maintain balance while operating to avoid losing stability due to sudden unlocking.
3. Using a Control Lever to Adjust the Tilt (for traditional office chairs) Most office chairs adjust the backrest tilt using a control lever beneath the seat. Pulling the control lever outward disengages it from the backrest's fixing hole, allowing the backrest to tilt backward; after adjusting to the desired angle, release the lever, and the backrest will automatically return to its original position under spring tension. If the backrest does not return or is locked, the control lever may have been accidentally pushed into the fixing hole. In this case, pull the lever out again to return the backrest to its original position, then push it back into the fixing hole to lock it. Be mindful of the force used when pulling the lever to avoid damaging the mechanism.
4. Manually Adjusting the Tilt Mechanism (for basic chairs) Some chairs have a tilt adjuster beneath the seat (usually a lever or knob). To adjust, pull the adjuster upward while leaning back to tilt the chair's backrest; do not release your grip until you reach the desired angle, then release the adjuster to secure it in place. This method requires some strength, so proceed slowly to avoid losing control of the chair due to excessive force.
Precautions: Before adjusting, confirm the chair's structure to avoid damaging components through forceful operation. If the chair has not been used for a long time, check for loose screws before adjusting to ensure safety.
