Office Chair Packing and Shipping

Admin October 13, 2026

The following steps should be followed for packing and shipping office chairs to ensure transportation safety and efficiency:

1. Preparation

  • Tools and Materials: Prepare five-layer corrugated cardboard boxes that are 5-10 cm larger than the chair's expanded dimensions, bubble wrap, pearl cotton, stretch wrap, tape, markers, screwdrivers/wrenches, and foam blocks.
  • Cleaning: Wipe off dust and stains from the chair's surface with a dry cloth to avoid contaminating the packaging materials.
  • Original Packaging Utilization: If the original packaging is intact, it can be used directly; if lost, cut cardboard to make an outer package and protect the edges with hard corner protectors.

2. Disassembly of Parts

  • Separate Components: Unscrew the screws connecting the backrest to the seat cushion and the armrests to the seat cushion, and disassemble the gas lift, base, wheels, etc.
  • Small Parts Management: Package small parts such as screws in plastic bags or cardboard boxes, label their uses or numbers to prevent loss.
  • Instruction Manual Reference: Carefully study the instruction manual before disassembly to avoid damaging parts through forceful removal.

3. Wrapping and Protection

  • Wooden/Leather Components: Wrap with 2-3 layers of pearl cotton, focusing on protecting the edges and corners, then secure with stretch wrap to prevent scratches and moisture damage.
  • Metal Components: Wrap the gas lift, base, etc., with 1-2 layers of bubble wrap to avoid scratches on the paint surface.
  • Glass/Mirror Decorations: First wrap the glass part with bubble wrap, then secure with tape.
  • Overall Cushioning: Wrap the entire chair horizontally twice and vertically with bubble wrap, covering it completely with at least 3-5 layers to cushion transportation pressure.

4. Packing and Fixing

  • Bottom Cushioning: Lay 2-3 layers of bubble wrap or foam boards at the bottom of the cardboard box.
  • Component Placement: Place the largest component (such as the seat cushion) in the middle of the bottom layer, fill the gaps around it with foam blocks; then place the backrest, armrests, etc., in order, and tuck the small parts bags into the gaps; lay another layer of bubble wrap on top.
  • Inverted Packing: Place the chair legs upwards into the cardboard box, fill the gaps inside the box with crumpled old newspapers, and focus on cushioning the connection between the backrest and the seat surface.

5. Sealing and Labeling

  • Sealing: Seal the box with tape in a cross pattern, applying 2-3 strips horizontally and vertically to ensure the box lid fits tightly.
  • Labeling: Mark the side of the cardboard box with words such as 'Furniture', 'Fragile', 'This Side Up', and 'Do Not Press' using a marker, and indicate the number of parts; if transportation is required, weigh and record the weight for logistics quotation.

Precautions

  • Avoid using the armrests as leverage points when carrying; it is recommended to carry by the seat surface; for large chairs, measure the dimensions in advance and plan the carrying route.
  • For light chairs, prioritize express delivery; for heavy solid wood chairs or massage chairs, choose a logistics company and confirm whether it includes upstairs service; forๅŒๅŸŽ (same-city) transportation, platforms like Huolala can be used.
  • For valuable antique chairs or designer chairs, it is recommended to purchase transportation insurance and choose a professional art logistics company.
