Office Chair Packaging Box

Admin October 09, 2026

The size, material, and design of office chair packaging boxes need to be selected according to specific types and requirements. Here is a detailed guide:

I. Size Selection

There is no unified national standard for the packaging size of office chairs. The length, width, and height of packaging boxes for mainstream e-commerce models typically range from 80 - 120cm ร— 60 - 80cm ร— 20 - 40cm. Specific sizes vary depending on the type of chair:

  • Basic swivel chairs: The conventional packaging box size is approximately 110cm ร— 70cm ร— 30cm, suitable for the chair body, armrests, and base of ordinary detachable swivel chairs.
  • Gaming chairs: Due to additional accessories such as headrests and lumbar supports, the packaging thickness needs to be increased by 10 - 15cm, with an overall size that may reach 110cm ร— 70cm ร— 40 - 45cm to ensure all accessories are fully accommodated.
  • High-end executive chairs: The common specification is 120cm ร— 80cm ร— 40cm. Their wide chair bodies and heavy materials (such as genuine leather and high-density foam) require larger packaging space, along with buffer zones to prevent squeezing and deformation.
  • Extra-large non-detachable chairs: If the chair cannot be disassembled (such as integral solid wood frame chairs), a custom extra-large shipping box is required. The size must fully cover the chair's outline, with an additional 10 - 20cm buffer space for filling protective materials.

II. Material and Packaging Design

Packaging materials need to balance shock resistance, volume optimization, and cost efficiency:

  • Traditional shock-resistant combination: Priority is given to using honeycomb cardboard + pearl cotton. Honeycomb cardboard has a stable structure and can withstand transportation impacts; pearl cotton is soft and moisture-proof, effectively protecting vulnerable parts such as chair leg plating and leather surfaces, while also reducing packaging volume through compression design.
  • New lightweight solution: Some manufacturers use a combination of air columns + shrink wrap. Air columns form a buffer layer through inflation, reducing the use of cardboard boxes; shrink wrap tightly adheres to the chair's surface, securing components and preventing dust, resulting in an overall 20% reduction in transportation volume and lower logistics costs.
  • Special protective measures: For extra-large non-detachable chairs, a large amount of bubble wrap and stretch wrap needs to be filled inside the packaging. Bubble wrap wraps around the chair's main body to absorb shocks; stretch wrap secures component positions to prevent shifting or scratching during transportation.

III. Handling Special Cases

If the chair has an irregular shape (such as a curved backrest or uniquely shaped armrests), the packaging can be custom-cut:

  • Cut cardboard or foam board according to the chair's outline to form fitting grooves, reducing internal gaps;
  • Add extra EPE pearl cotton corner protectors or cardboard brackets to prominent parts (such as chair wheels and armrests) to enhance local compression resistance;
  • Mark the outer packaging with labels such as "Fragile" and "This Side Up" to guide handlers in proper operation.

By reasonably selecting size, material, and design, office chair packaging boxes can effectively balance protection, transportation efficiency, and cost, ensuring products are safely delivered to consumers.
