Office Chair Lifting Types

Admin October 22, 2026

The lifting types of office chairs mainly include pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and screw types. Here is a detailed introduction to these types:

Pneumatic lifting chairs are the most widely used type on the market. They achieve height adjustment through the movement of the piston rod inside the air cylinder. When a user needs to adjust the chair height, they simply press the lifting lever lightly, and the compressed air inside the cylinder pushes the piston rod to move, thereby changing the chair height. Pneumatic lifting chairs have significant advantages such as low cost, simple structure, and flexible operation. Their relatively low cost makes them affordable for most consumers; a simple structure means they are easy to manufacture and maintain; and flexible operation allows users to easily adjust the chair height according to their needs, enhancing comfort. Therefore, pneumatic lifting chairs are widely used in various office settings, such as offices and conference rooms.

Hydraulic lifting chairs control the chair height through the principle of pressure. They use the flow and pressure changes of hydraulic oil inside the hydraulic cylinder to achieve lifting functionality. However, hydraulic lifting chairs have relatively low market share in China due to disadvantages such as high cost, complex structure, and less sensitive adjustment. Their high cost is mainly due to the high manufacturing and maintenance costs of the hydraulic system; a complex structure makes them prone to malfunctions and difficult to repair; and less sensitive adjustment affects the user experience.

Mechanical lifting chairs rely on mechanical structures to achieve height adjustment. They typically change the chair height through the transmission of mechanical components such as gears and chains. Mechanical lifting chairs have a relatively simple structure, but the adjustment process may be relatively cumbersome, requiring users to manually operate multiple components to complete the height adjustment.

Screw-type lifting chairs are also a relatively common type. They achieve height adjustment through a screw mechanism, and users can change the chair height simply by rotating the screw rod. Screw-type lifting chairs have a relatively simple structure, but the adjustment range may be limited, and the adjustment process may not be very smooth.
