Office Chair Leather Perforation
Admin October 22, 2026
Whether to perforate the leather of an office chair should be weighed according to actual needs. Perforation has advantages such as breathability and aesthetics, but it also has disadvantages such as being prone to dirt and slightly weaker durability.

Advantages of Perforation
- Good breathability: Perforation design is an effective way to improve the breathability of leather. In office settings, people sit on chairs for long periods, and the parts of the body in contact with the leather are prone to a stuffy feeling, especially in hot weather. Perforation allows air to circulate on the surface of the leather, enabling the dissipation of heat and moisture, effectively reducing sweat accumulation, keeping the body dry and comfortable, and enhancing the user experience.
- Aesthetic and fashionable: Perforation can create various unique patterns, adding rich visual effects to the leather. Different perforation patterns can showcase different styles. Whether it is minimalist and modern or retro and luxurious, it can be achieved through perforation design. This unique design makes office chairs more high-end and fashionable, allowing them to match different styles of office interiors and enhance the overall aesthetic of the environment.
Disadvantages of Perforation
- Prone to dirt accumulation: The small holes in the perforated areas are easy places for dust and stains to hide. In daily use, dust will flow into the holes with the air, and some liquid stains may also penetrate in. When cleaning, due to the small size and large number of holes, special tools are required for careful cleaning. Otherwise, it will affect the cleanliness of the leather and may even breed bacteria.
- Slightly weaker durability: Compared to non-perforated leather, the leather structure at the perforated areas is damaged, and its durability is affected. Frequent friction, squeezing, and other external forces may cause increased wear and tear on the perforated leather, with the edges of the holes showing damage and cracking, shortening the service life of the office chair.
Perforation Techniques and Equipment
- Perforation techniques: Use a spacing gauge to draw lines along the edge of the leather, and then use a diamond awl to mark the perforation points, ensuring that all points fall on the lines. Then, stand the diamond awl upright and align it with the perforation points, and gently tap the awl with a hammer. When making the second row of holes, align the first tooth of the diamond awl with the last hole made previously to ensure neat and even perforation.
- Perforation equipment: A CNC ventilation seat perforation machine is a professional perforation device. It controls the perforation path through CNC system programming and can avoid the sewing line areas on the leather surface, preventing the damage to the seams that may be caused by traditional perforation methods, thus maintaining the integrity and aesthetics of the leather.
