Office Chair Installation

Admin October 09, 2026

The installation of an office chair generally follows the steps below, with attention to component verification and operational specifications:

1. Component Preparation and Verification
An office chair typically consists of a base, casters, a gas lift, a seat plate, a seat, a backrest, armrests, a headrest, and matching screws. Before installation, verify that all components are present to avoid interruptions due to missing parts. For example, the base is often a five-star structure; ensure its central hole matches the diameter of the gas lift. The seat plate should be checked for screw hole alignment with the seat.

2. Basic Structure Assembly

  • Caster and Base Connection: Press or rotate each caster into the end of the base's five legs, ensuring the clips or threads are fully engaged to prevent loosening. Some casters may require a special tool for tightening.
  • Gas Lift Installation: Insert the gas lift vertically into the central hole of the base, ensuring its bottom is fully seated against the base. The gas lift is the core component for adjusting seat height; check for scratches or air leaks on its surface.

3. Seat and Backrest Connection

  • Seat Plate Attachment: Use screws to attach the seat plate to the bottom of the seat, tightening them in a diagonal sequence in stages to prevent the seat plate from tilting. Some seat plates may require pre-installation of control handles (e.g., for height adjustment or recline functions).
  • Backrest Assembly: Align the backrest's connecting rod with the slot or screw holes on the back of the seat, securing it with screws or clips. If the backrest supports angle adjustment, install the adjustment mechanism simultaneously and test its flexibility.

4. Overall Structure Integration

  • Seat and Gas Lift Connection: Align the central hole at the bottom of the assembled seat (including backrest) with the top of the gas lift and press down vertically until fully seated. Maintain balance during this step to prevent the gas lift from tilting and causing seat instability.
  • Armrest and Headrest Installation: Depending on the design, armrests may be screwed to the sides of the seat or beneath the backrest; the headrest should be inserted into the้ข„็•™ๅญ” (reserved hole) at the top of the backrest and the screws tightened. Some armrests support height or angle adjustment; adjust them to a comfortable position according to the instructions.

5. Final Inspection and Adjustment

  • Stability Test: Sit on the chair and gently shake it to check that all connections are secure and that the casters rotate smoothly.
  • Function Adjustment: Test the gas lift's height adjustment, the backrest's recline resistance, and the armrest's adjustment range to ensure all functions operate normally.

Precautions: Use the provided screws during installation to avoid structural instability from mismatched screws. If screw holes are misaligned, do not force insertion; check component compatibility instead. For complex structures, two people are recommended to collaborate to prevent accidental ejection of the gas lift and potential injury.
