Office Chair Ground Tilt

Admin October 10, 2026

Problems caused by ground tilt for office chairs can be solved by checking the ground flatness, adjusting the height of the chair legs, and performing level checks when furniture is brought in.

Checking Ground Flatness: When the ground is uneven, the four legs of the office chair cannot touch the ground evenly at the same time, resulting in wobbling. In this case, you can move the chair to another position. If the wobbling disappears, it indicates that the problem lies with the ground. Additionally, you can use a thin string to test by pulling it straight along the diagonals of the chair's four legs. If the two diagonal strings intersect in the middle, it means the bottom ends of the four legs are on the same plane, and the root cause of the problem is the uneven ground; if they do not intersect, it suggests that the chair itself may have deformed.

Adjusting Chair Leg Height: For minor ground unevenness, there are several methods to adjust the height of the chair legs. You can use rubber pads to elevate the shorter legs, increasing their height so that all four legs of the chair can touch the ground simultaneously, thereby eliminating wobbling. Alternatively, you can use an angle grinder or 80-grit sandpaper to sand down the longer legs, adjusting their length based on the horizontal plane of the chair seat to keep the chair level. Additionally, adjustable feet can be screwed onto the bottom of the chair, allowing you to fine-tune the height by rotating them to accommodate different degrees of ground tilt. This method is relatively simple to operate and can be adjusted flexibly according to the actual situation.

Level Checking When Furniture is Brought In: When office furniture is installed, if level checks are not performed, tables and chairs are prone to tilting, leading to uneven force distribution. Over time, this may result in problems such as tabletop deformation and cabinet loosening. Therefore, during the acceptance inspection upon arrival, it is essential to check whether all furniture is placed horizontally and firmly on the ground. If any height discrepancies are found, use shims to adjust them promptly to ensure that the furniture is level. This not only guarantees comfort during use but also extends the service life of the furniture.
