Office Chair Factory Process

Admin October 11, 2026

The process in an office chair factory covers multiple stages, including design and raw material preparation, cutting and processing, assembly and welding, processing and coating, upholstery treatment, installation of adjustment mechanisms, measurement and adjustment, and quality inspection and packaging.

Design and raw material preparation: Office chair design is carried out based on market demand and design requirements, covering aspects such as appearance, materials, and functionality. For example, in the design of mesh chairs, in-depth research is conducted on ergonomic data to determine the curvature of the backrest, the position of the lumbar support, etc., and 3D models and engineering drawings are created. At the same time, raw materials and accessories such as wood panels, metal tubes, and sponges are prepared according to the design drawings and specifications.

Cutting and processing: According to the requirements of the design drawings, wood panels and metal tubes are cut into the required shapes and sizes using hydraulic-powered machines, etc. When making office swivel chairs, No. 14 steel tubes are bent to form the bottom cushion frame, and steel bars are connected by welding to serve as the intermediate support structure. Mechanical equipment such as planers and drill presses are also used to process the raw materials. For mesh chairs, advanced weaving machines are used to control the tension of the warp and weft threads.

Assembly and welding: The cut metal tubes are connected by welding to form a frame structure. For example, in the production of office swivel chairs, S-shaped steel springs are used to provide a flexible suspension net. After grinding the burrs on the steel, the backrest components are assembled. At the same time, accessories such as armrests and seat brackets are installed on the frame.

Processing and coating: The seat wood panels are sanded and painted to increase gloss and protective properties. Metal components undergo anti-corrosion treatment and chromium plating to improve appearance and durability.

Upholstery treatment: For leather office chairs, the leather is cut according to cardboard templates, and foam cushions are reasonably selected and sewn. For mesh chairs, sponges and mesh fabrics are fixed to the exterior of the seat to make cushions and backrests.

Installation of adjustment mechanisms: For example, in office swivel chairs, the slide bars are screwed onto the base, and then the mechanisms that work in conjunction with the slide bars are installed to enable the seat to move forward and backward.

Measurement and adjustment: After assembly and coating are completed, the tilt, height, and sturdiness of the seat are tested and adjusted to ensure compliance with ergonomic principles and quality requirements.

Quality inspection and packaging: The produced office chairs undergo quality inspection to check the quality of components and their connections. After passing the inspection, they are packaged and labeled for transportation and sales.
