Office Chair Drying
Admin October 09, 2026
The drying method for office chairs should be selected according to the material, combined with ventilation, water absorption, and other operations to accelerate drying. The specific methods are as follows:

I. Handling Based on Material Differences
- Wooden Chairs: They are prone to deformation and cracking after absorbing water. First, thoroughly dry the surface water stains with a dry towel, and then move them to a well-ventilated and shady place for natural air-drying. Exposure to the sun or placing near heating appliances is strictly prohibited, as it will accelerate wood cracking.
- Metal Chairs: The focus is on preventing rust caused by residual water stains. After drying, place them in a sunny and well-ventilated place to accelerate evaporation. Clean the dead corners where water can accumulate, such as rivets and gaps, and repeatedly absorb the residual moisture with a dry cloth.
- Plastic Chairs: High temperatures can easily accelerate aging and fading, especially for dark-colored plastics. They should be placed in a shaded and well-ventilated place (such as under a tree) for natural drying to avoid direct sunlight.
- Fabric Chairs: First, remove the detachable fabric covers if possible. Repeatedly press with a dry towel to absorb the surface and inner moisture (twisting is prohibited). Then hang them in a well-ventilated place to dry flat. Complete drying can prevent mildew.
- Leather/PU Chairs: After cleaning, focus on dealing with the accumulated water in the seams. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during ventilation and drying; otherwise, the material may become hard or fade.
- Mesh Chairs: After cleaning, pat the back of the chair with your hands to make the water droplets stuck in the mesh fall off. Then combine ventilation or a hairdryer to accelerate drying.
II. General Drying Tips
- Ventilation Acceleration: Move the chairs to a well-ventilated place such as a balcony or window sill. Air circulation can speed up water evaporation.
- Water Absorption Treatment: Immediately after cleaning, press the chair surface firmly with a dry towel or absorbent cloth to absorb as much surface moisture as possible. For mesh chairs, pat the back of the chair to assist in water drainage.
- Heating Assistance: Use a hairdryer on medium heat (maintain a distance of 15-20 centimeters and move evenly) to blow on the damp parts, paying special attention to details such as seams.
- Dehumidification Equipment: If there is a household dehumidifier, place the chairs in a small room and turn it on. They can be completely dry in two hours.
- Elevating the Bottom: When drying, elevate the chair legs to leave a gap between the bottom and the ground, ensuring air circulation and reducing the impact of ground moisture.
III. Maintenance of Special Components
- Bases and Hardware: When cleaning, thoroughly dry them with a dry cloth to prevent metal parts from rusting. The pneumatic rod part should be kept dry to avoid affecting the lifting function.
- Aluminum Alloy Chair Legs: After long-term use, wipe them with a mixture of equal amounts of hot water and white vinegar to restore their luster.
- Leather Backrests: Apply maintenance oil after cleaning to prevent the leather surface from cracking.
