Office Chair Cushion Introduction
The mainstream materials for office chair cushions are mesh and foam, with specially designed lumbar support and memory foam cushions also available, each with its own characteristics.

Mesh Cushions: Their significant advantage is strong breathability, allowing air to circulate freely. This effectively reduces the stuffy feeling on the contact surface between the buttocks and the cushion during prolonged sitting, maintaining dryness and comfort. However, mesh cushions have relatively insufficient elasticity, which may lead to concentrated pressure on the sitting bones, causing discomfort in the sitting bone area after long-term use. Domestically produced ergonomic chairs mostly use mesh cushions, with occasional use of foam cushions in low-end products priced below 1,000 yuan, while other products are generally equipped with mesh cushions.
Foam Cushions: They offer relatively better comfort and durability. Their scientific name is polyurethane soft foam rubber, with a microscopic three-dimensional grid structure. Elasticity is positively correlated with density; the higher the density, the better the elasticity, enabling better conformity to the body's curves and providing uniform support. Ergonomic chairs from abroad prefer foam cushions, such as the Sayl and Verus series from Herman Miller, the Primp and Portone series from Okamura, as well as all ergonomic chair series from Steelcase and Haworth, which are all equipped with foam cushions.
Specially Designed Cushions: There are some specially designed cushions on the market, such as the BKT lumbar support cushion, which uses a dynamic support system combining high-density slow-rebound foam and elastic support columns. This system can automatically adjust the support force according to body pressure, reducing tension in the lumbar muscles. It achieves intelligent distribution of buttock pressure through zoned pressure regulation, preventing leg numbness from prolonged sitting. Its 360ยฐ adaptive design can fit various seating scenarios. Some high-end memory foam cushions feature a front-low, back-high tilt angle and a hollowed-out design. The front-low, back-high design conforms to the natural curves of the buttocks and legs when sitting, while the hollowed-out design increases air circulation, providing pressure relief and breathability.
