Office Chair Cleaning

Admin October 09, 2026

Office chair cleaning requires separate handling of the casters and other parts. The specific methods are as follows:

Cleaning of Office Chair Casters

  1. Dealing with Hair Entanglement

    • Disassembling the Casters: Turn the office chair upside down (with the seat facing downwards). Hold the caster bracket with your hand and gently pull the caster outwards (most are designed with snap-on mechanisms). If it is stuck tightly, use a flat-head screwdriver with a soft cloth to pry the edge of the snap-on part to avoid scratching the bracket.
    • Removing Debris: Use tweezers to pick out hair and debris from the gaps in the casters (operate in the direction of rotation to prevent further entanglement). Use an old toothbrush dipped in neutral detergent to gently brush the surface and the gaps in the bearings to remove dust and grease. Rinse with clean water, wipe off the moisture, and air-dry for 10 minutes (avoid water getting into the bearings).
    • Lubricating and Reinstalling: Apply 1-2 drops of special lubricating oil for office equipment (avoid using cooking oil) to the bearings. Rotate the casters to evenly distribute the lubricating oil. Align the casters with the snap-on part of the bracket and push them in. Listen for a 'click' sound to confirm that they are securely installed. Turn the chair back upright and test its smoothness. If there is still stuttering, check for remaining debris.
  2. Cleaning Dirt

    • Wet a used facial cloth and let it air-dry slightly. Use the textured side to wipe the wheels, using friction to remove dirt. Alternatively, wrap the wheels with the facial cloth, secure it with a rubber band, and sit on the chair and move back and forth. The friction will transfer the dirt to the facial cloth. Repeat the operation until clean.
  3. Preventing Floor Dirt

    • Use invisible tape of appropriate width and moderate stickiness to wrap around the wheels. Keep the surface wrinkled to increase friction and prevent the wheels from being too slippery. The tape can be removed with almost no residue, avoiding the adhesion of dirt to the floor.

Cleaning of Other Parts of the Office Chair

  1. Correct Chair-Wiping Process

    • Wipe from top to bottom in the order of 'backrest โ†’ seat cushion โ†’ armrests โ†’ chair legs' to ensure no omissions. The cloth should be slightly damp and not drip water to prevent water stains and moisture damage. For stubborn stains, use a neutral cleaner to gently wipe them to avoid damaging the surface.
  2. Selection of Cleaning Cloths

    • Preferably use towels, cotton cloths, flannel cloths, etc., which have good water absorption. Avoid using rough cloths, old clothes with threads or sewn-on buttons to prevent scratching the furniture surface.
