Office Chair Clay Making
Admin October 08, 2026
There are mainly three methods for making office chairs out of clay: cute sofa chairs, small chairs with rabbit ears and bow decorations, and personalized seats. Details are as follows:

Making of Cute Sofa Chairs
- Main Body Construction: First, take yellow clay and press it into a thick round cake to serve as the seat. Then, take another piece of yellow clay, roll it into a long strip, flatten it, and adjust the curvature of both sides. Combine these two clay parts to form the basic prototype of the sofa chair.
- Leg Installation: Use cotton swabs to cut out four small sticks of equal length. Mark the positions for the four legs under the seat. Then, insert toothpicks into the corresponding positions and make appropriate adjustments to ensure the legs are stable.
- Blanket Making: Mix light yellow clay, roll it into a ball, and press it to an appropriate size with an acrylic tool. Use a brush to create texture, then roll it into a thin sheet. Cut out a rectangle with a blade and press evenly spaced stripes on it to create a decorative part with a blanket pattern.
- Component Assembly: Combine light yellow and white balls, adjust their shape, and then assemble the previously made seat, legs, blanket, and other parts to complete the making of the cute sofa chair.
Making of Small Chairs with Rabbit Ears and Bow Decorations
- Seat Making: Take white clay and roll it into a ball. Gently flatten it into a round or square shape with a board to serve as the seat of the chair.
- Chair Leg Making: Roll three balls of white clay and then roll them into short, thick strips to serve as the chair legs. Mix red and white clay to form pink, and roll three smaller balls to attach to the lower ends of the chair legs as decorations.
- Rabbit Ear Making: Divide the pink clay into two parts, roll them into long, thin teardrop shapes, flatten them, bend them, and combine them to form ear shapes. Then, roll thin strips of white clay and attach them to the inner sides of the ears.
- Chair Body Decoration: Roll pink clay into thin strips and wrap them around the upper edge of the chair. Use a tool to press out a lace pattern. Draw the eyes and mouth of a little rabbit with a black pen and attach small rouge patches.
- Bow Addition: Roll two small teardrop shapes out of pink clay and flatten them. Roll small balls out of white clay and combine them to form a bow and attach it to the chair.
Making of Personalized Seats
- Base Preparation: You can cut out the shape of the seat using density board or other hard materials, for example, with a front width of 5 cm, side width of 3 - 4 cm, and height of 9 cm. Alternatively, you can directly shape it with clay.
- Backrest Making: If a backrest is needed, first draw the shape of the backrest on paper and cut it out. Then, wrap the hard backrest model with rolled-out thin clay, ensuring that the middle is thick and the sides are thin.
- Chair Leg Making: Use molds or shape the chair legs by hand in styles such as cylindrical or square, and then attach them to the bottom of the seat.
- Decoration and Coloring: Decorate the edges with golden clay strips or color the seat with paint to add details and enhance its aesthetics.
