Office Chair Caster Removal
The removal of office chair casters requires selecting the appropriate method based on the type of caster. The specific steps are as follows:

Removal of Snap-in Casters This is the most common type, where the casters are fixed to the frame with snap-in mechanisms. First, turn the office chair upside down so that the seat faces downward (be sure to place a soft cloth or foam board between the seat and the ground to prevent the fabric from being scratched or stained). Grasp the caster frame with your hands and pull the casters outward evenly. Due to the elasticity of the snap-in design, in most cases, no tools are required for removal. If the casters are stuck too tightly, prepare a flat-head screwdriver. Wrap a layer of soft cloth around the head of the screwdriver to avoid scratching the metal frame from direct contact, and then insert the screwdriver into the edge of the snap-in mechanism and gently pry it to loosen the snap-in mechanism, after which the casters can be pulled out.
Removal of Threaded Casters Some office chairs use threaded connections for their casters, which require removal by rotation. Prepare a small wrench (or an adjustable wrench) of the appropriate size and clamp the wrench onto the threaded part where the caster connects to the frame. Turn it counterclockwise (to the left) with force. When turning, maintain an even force to avoid stripping the threads due to excessive force. If the threads are rusty or stuck, spray a small amount of lubricant (such as WD-40) onto the threads and wait a few minutes before attempting to turn again.
Removal of C-clip Rod Casters These casters are fixed with a C-clip rod, and removal is relatively more difficult. You will need a flat-head tool (such as a flat-head screwdriver or a special pry bar). Insert the head of the tool into the gap between the C-clip rod and the frame and pry outward with force. Since the C-clip rod has a strong fixing force, a relatively large amount of force is required for prying. It is recommended that female users seek assistance from male users to avoid the tool slipping or injury due to improper force. When prying, keep the tool perpendicular to the frame to prevent scratching the frame surface.
Precautions:
- Observe the type of caster before removal to avoid damage caused by using the wrong method;
- Wear gloves during operation to prevent hand injuries from metal parts;
- If the casters are severely aged or damaged, it is recommended to replace them with new ones to avoid safety hazards caused by reinstalling old casters.
