Office Chair Bow-shaped Mobile

Admin October 12, 2026

Bow-shaped office chairs generally do not have the function of overall mobility, but some models support local adjustment of the seat.

The original design intention of bow-shaped chairs is to provide stable support. Their legs are made of a one-piece bow-shaped steel base, which disperses pressure through an arc-shaped structure, ensuring stability as soon as they are placed on the ground. This structural feature determines that they have no wheels and cannot achieve overall mobility through sliding like office chairs with wheels. If forced to be pushed, the friction between the base and the ground may cause the chair legs to deform or the ground to be scratched, and may even lead to safety hazards.

However, some bow-shaped chairs have added flexibility in the design of the seat. For example, the seats of certain models can move forward by about 10 centimeters through a slide rail structure to meet users' needs for adjusting their sitting posture. This adjustment is a local displacement aimed at optimizing the distance between the legs and the desktop, rather than changing the overall position of the chair. This is usually achieved by installing hidden slide rails under the seat. Users can trigger the movement by lightly lifting or pressing specific parts, which is easy to operate and does not affect stability.

If users need to move their office chairs frequently, it is recommended to choose models with a five-star base equipped with wheels. These chairs can slide 360 degrees without obstacles through universal wheels, and modern designs have solved problems such as sliding noise and accidental movement through technologies such as silent wheels and gravity locks. If bow-shaped chairs must be used due to space limitations, the following methods can be used to compensate for the inconvenience of movement:

  1. Choose models with sliding pads: Some bow-shaped chairs are equipped with silicone or plastic sliding pads at the bottom of the chair legs, which can reduce friction with the ground and facilitate small-scale pushing;
  2. Use a mobile tray: Place a mobile tray with wheels under the chair to indirectly adjust the chair's position through the tray's sliding;
  3. Optimize the office layout: Place frequently used items (such as documents and water cups) within arm's reach to reduce the need for movement.

The stability of bow-shaped chairs is their core advantage, making them suitable for scenarios that require a long-term fixed sitting posture (such as drawing and writing). If there are high requirements for mobility, it is necessary to clarify the needs when purchasing to avoid affecting the user experience due to structural differences.
