Office Chair Bottom Installation

Admin October 19, 2026

The installation measures for the bottom of office chairs can be divided into three categories according to needs: stability reinforcement, extended function supplementation, and adaptive structure upgrading. The specific solutions are as follows:

1. Stability Reinforcement
The chassis of office chairs is often a single-column structure, which is prone to shaking and tipping over when the center of gravity is high. Installing an anti-tipping bracket is the core solution. For example, a triangular metal bracket expands the contact area through three-point support, significantly reducing the risk of tipping. If the chair has a height-adjustment function, the gas cylinder needs to be adjusted simultaneously: fixing it at the lowest height can lower the center of gravity, and tightening the gas cylinder screws can prevent accidental height changes, avoiding instability caused by a loose gas rod. For children's use scenarios, it is recommended to prioritize models with explosion-proof steel platesโ€”this component is located around the gas rod and can block fragments from penetrating the seat in the event of an accidental explosion of the gas rod, providing basic safety protection.

2. Extended Function Supplementation
For children's use needs, the bottom structure can be extended with functional components. For example, installing a foldable desk panel on the back of the chair requires the use of food-grade PP plastic material to ensure it is non-toxic and easy to clean; the desk panel is fixed with snaps or sliding rails and can be folded up to save space when not in use. It is recommended to use a pull-out design for the footrest, which can be adjusted in multiple gears to accommodate the leg lengths of children of different ages, avoiding poor sitting posture caused by hanging legs. If a lying position is required, referring to the design of gaming chairs, a spring-loaded footrest can be added at the bottom of the five-star base to relieve leg pressure through elastic support.

3. Adaptive Structure Upgrading
Mid-to-high-end office chairs often have integrated adjustment devices at the bottom, and the experience can be optimized by adding components. For example, the tilt resistance adjustment knob on the inside of the bracket can control the backward tilt force of the chair back. Users can rotate and adjust it according to their weight to avoid excessive backward tilt or excessive resistance. The chair wheel locking device is suitable for scenarios where a fixed sitting position is required. Pressing the locking button can prevent sliding. High-end models are even equipped with gravity-sensing brake wheels, which automatically lock when standing up and unlock when sitting down, providing both safety and convenience. In addition, although an explosion-proof steel plate is not an added component, if the original chair lacks it, you can contact the manufacturer for installation. Its thickness is recommended to be no less than 3mm to effectively buffer the impact of a gas rod explosion.

Precautions: Before installation, confirm the compatibility of the components with the original chair structure. For example, the anti-tipping bracket needs to match the diameter of the five-star base, and the foldable desk panel needs to fit the width of the chair back. When adjusting the gas rod, it is recommended to be operated by professionals to avoid damaging the gas cylinder due to over-tightening.
