Functions of Office Chairs and Boss Chairs

Admin October 09, 2026

The core functions of boss chairs (executive chairs) include reclining and sitting, height adjustment via gas lift, sliding rails, zero-gravity wrap-around feel, ergonomic design, and fabric and structural optimization, as detailed below:

  1. Reclining and Sitting, Dual Use for Office and Lunch Breaks
Some boss chairs support multi-angle adjustment functions, enabling a switch from a 90ยฐ office sitting posture to a 160ยฐ or even 180ยฐ flat reclining position through a coordinated design between the backrest and seat cushion. This design meets daily office needs while providing a rest experience similar to a bed during lunch breaks, especially suitable for users who work at desks for extended periods. For example, some high-end models are equipped with footrest linkage devices to further optimize leg support when lying flat.

  2. Height Adjustment via Gas Lift
Boss chairs generally use three-stage or four-stage gas lifts to adjust seat height by utilizing gas compressibility. Users can quickly adjust their sitting posture according to desk height or personal habits using the lift handle beneath the seat, typically accommodating a height range from 150cm to 190cm. The gas lift must comply with international safety standards (such as BIFMA certification) to avoid explosion risks.

  3. Sliding Rails for Forward and Backward Movement
Metal sliding rails (mostly made of steel or aluminum alloy) are embedded at the bottom of the seat, supporting forward and backward movement of the seat within a range of 50cm to 80cm. This function allows users to adjust their distance from the desk to suit different office scenarios (such as writing, computer operation, or meeting discussions), while reducing noise caused by frequent chair movement.

  4. Zero-Gravity Wrap-Around Feel
Some high-end models (such as Guquan S9) simulate a zero-gravity environment through an electric lumbar support system, with the lumbar support adjustable by 6cm forward and backward to fit the lumbar curve and disperse pressure from prolonged sitting. The headrest often features an adjustable height and rotation design, combined with a thickened seat cushion and high-elasticity foam, creating a wrap-around feel similar to that of a first-class airplane seat and reducing physical fatigue.

  5. Ergonomic Design
Boss chairs are typically equipped with adjustable headrests, lumbar supports, and explosion-proof steel plates. The headrest can be adjusted vertically by more than 10cm to fit different neck heights; the lumbar support supports elastic or mechanical adjustment to strengthen waist support; the explosion-proof steel plate, located between the gas lift and the seat, is more than 2mm thick to prevent injury to the user in the event of an accidental gas lift explosion.

  6. Fabric and Structural Optimization
The seat surface often uses breathable leather or mesh fabric, balancing durability and comfort; the chair legs are mainly five-star aluminum alloy structures with a load-bearing capacity of over 150kg, paired with silent universal wheels for smooth movement without damaging the floor. Some models also incorporate breathable hole designs to enhance the summer user experience.
