Office Chair Base Screw
Admin October 11, 2026
When installing office chair base screws, it is necessary to select tools based on the fixing method and operate in a standardized manner to ensure the base is stable and does not wobble.

I. Fixing Methods and Tool Selection
The connection between the office chair base and the five-star foot usually adopts two fixing methods:
- Self-tapping Screw Fixing: Directly use a screwdriver or electric tool to screw the self-tapping screw into the pre-reserved hole on the five-star foot. The thread design of the self-tapping screw can cut into the material by itself, eliminating the need for pre-drilling. However, it is necessary to ensure that the holes are aligned to avoid slipping.
- Embedded Nut Fixing: A metal nut is pre-embedded inside the five-star foot. During installation, a wrench is used to screw the matching bolt into the nut. This method has stronger load-bearing capacity and is suitable for heavy-duty office chairs, but it is necessary to ensure that the nut and bolt specifications match.
II. Step-by-Step Installation Process
- Initial Positioning: Place the base on top of the five-star foot and adjust the angle so that the holes on the base are perfectly aligned with those on the five-star foot. Key Tip: Install the two screws on the opposite corners (such as the top-left and bottom-right) first, but do not tighten them yet. The opposite holes have the largest distance, which can minimize alignment errors for the other holes.
- Gradual Tightening:
- After completing the initial positioning of the opposite-corner screws, install the remaining screws in sequence, maintaining moderate tightness.
- Once all screws are in place, tighten them gradually in a diagonal order to avoid tilting the base due to unilateral force.
- Final Inspection: Gently shake the base by hand to confirm that there is no wobbling or abnormal noise. If any looseness is detected, recheck whether the screws are tightened or whether the holes are aligned.
III. Precautions
- Tool Matching: Use a Phillips screwdriver for self-tapping screws and an adjustable wrench or socket for embedded nuts. The tool size must match the screw/nut specifications.
- Force Control: Avoid excessive force when tightening to prevent screw breakage or cracking of the five-star foot material (especially plastic materials).
- Safety Protection: If the five-star foot is made of metal, it is recommended to wear gloves during operation to prevent scratches.
By following standardized operations, you can ensure a firm connection between the base and the five-star foot, extend the service life of the office chair, and enhance usage safety.
