Office Chair Backrest Adjustment

Admin October 11, 2026

The methods for adjusting the backrest of office chairs vary depending on the type. Here are the adjustment methods for common types:

Office chairs with adjustment handles: The adjustment handle is usually located on the right side of the seat. When using it, first sit on the chair, find the adjustment handle, and then pull it. At this time, lean back slightly with your back, and the backrest will tilt backward along with your body movement. When you reach the appropriate angle, release the handle to fix the angle. If you want to return the backrest to its original upright position, continue pulling the handle while applying a little force with your back, and the chair back will bounce back. This adjustment method is relatively simple. By pulling the handle, you can control the fixation and movement of the backrest, meeting the needs of users for the backrest angle in different work states or during rest.

Pneumatic rod-adjusted office chairs: The adjustment lever is located under the chair. After sitting on the chair, pull up the adjustment lever with your hand. At this time, you can lean back, and the backrest will tilt backward along with your body movement. When it reaches the appropriate angle, release the adjustment lever, and the backrest will be fixed at that angle. To return it to the original angle, pull up the adjustment lever again while sitting up straight, and the backrest will return to its original position. Pneumatic rod-adjusted office chairs use the principle of air pressure to achieve backrest angle adjustment. They are easy to operate and can control the backrest angle more precisely.

Knob-adjusted office chairs: The knob is generally located on the side or bottom of the office chair. When you turn the knob clockwise, the backrest will gradually tighten, and the angle will be relatively fixed, which is suitable for work scenarios where a fixed sitting posture needs to be maintained. When you turn the knob counterclockwise, the backrest will loosen, and you can lean on it and let the backrest tilt backward to the desired angle according to your own strength. This adjustment method allows users to freely adjust the tightness and angle of the backrest according to their own comfort.

Handle-adjusted office chairs: Some office chairs are equipped with handles on the outer sides of the seats. Pull up the handle, and the backrest can tilt backward, which is suitable for resting. Pull down the handle, and the backrest will move forward and return to the upright position, facilitating work. This adjustment method is simple and intuitive. By pulling the handle up and down, you can easily achieve backrest angle adjustment.
