Office Chair Adjustment Illustration

Admin October 09, 2026

There are various adjustment methods for office chairs, and the operation methods differ for different adjustment structures. The following is an illustrated explanation of common adjustment methods:

Pneumatic Rod Adjustment Type: There is an adjustment lever under the chair. When adjusting the backrest angle, the person needs to sit on the chair first and pull up the adjustment lever with their hand. At this time, the body can lean backward, and the backrest will tilt backward along with the body movement. After tilting to the appropriate angle, release the adjustment lever to fix the angle. If you want to adjust the backrest back to its original angle, pull up the adjustment lever again and sit up straight forward with your body, and the backrest will return to its original position.

Knob Adjustment Type:

  • Adjusting Backrest Hardness: A knob for adjusting the backrest hardness can be found on the side or bottom of the office chair. Rotating this knob clockwise will make the chair backrest harder, providing stronger support for the user; rotating the knob counterclockwise will make the chair backrest softer, offering more flexible support.
  • Adjusting Chair Height: Adjust the chair height by rotating the lever up and down. Rotating the lever upward will raise the chair; rotating the lever downward will lower the chair.
  • Locking and Unlocking Function: Pushing the lever inward can lock the chair. Pushing the lever inward will fix the current state of the chair; pulling the lever outward can unlock it. Pulling the lever outward will make the locked state invalid, and the chair can be freely adjusted.

Handle Adjustment Type: Some office chairs have handles on the outer sides of the seat. Pulling the handle upward will make the backrest tilt backward; pulling the handle downward will make the backrest return forward.

Executive Chair Backward Tilt Adjustment: A regulator can be found under the chair. Pulling the regulator upward can adjust the tilt degree of the backrest. When pulling the regulator upward, you need to exert force backward with your back at the same time to make the backrest of the chair tilt. When the appropriate tilt degree has not been adjusted, do not release your hand and keep exerting force backward until the chair reaches the required tilt degree, and then release the hand controlling the regulator.
