Principles of Office Chair Accessories
The core principles of office chair accessories mainly involve the five-claw base, casters and rotating mechanisms, pneumatic height adjustment rods, and reclining mechanisms, as detailed below:

The five-claw base employs a five-point support principle, with five evenly distributed support points contacting the ground to form a stable support structure. This design effectively disperses the pressure caused by static body weight, prolonged sitting, and lateral eccentric forces, reducing the risk of tipping due to shifts in the center of gravity. In terms of materials, nylon five-star bases are often molded from reinforced engineering plastics, offering affordability, light weight, and good toughness; aluminum alloy bases are cast in one piece, providing high hardness and strong load-bearing capacity.
In the caster and rotating mechanism, the universal wheel consists of four parts: a bracket, a rotating shaft, ball bearings, and a wheel body. The decoupled design of the top rotating disc and bottom wheel set allows the wheel to automatically adjust its direction when subjected to horizontal forces, enabling 360ยฐ free rotation and significantly reducing movement resistance. Common insert-type caster designs rely on the interference fit between high-precision PVC/nylon wheel hubs and the metal sleeves of the chair legs to achieve self-locking, with a typical load-bearing range of 5 to 25 kilograms per caster. The chair's rotating function depends on the turntable bearing structure at the bottom, which features a 'double concentric ring + ball guide' design. The outer ring is fixed to the base, the inner ring is connected to the rotating component, and precision-arranged steel balls are embedded in between. When subjected to force, these balls automatically disperse frictional resistance, enabling smooth and uninterrupted 360ยฐ rotation.
The pneumatic height adjustment rod is the core component for adjusting the seat height, filled with high-pressure nitrogen gas (with a purity of over 99% in legitimate products). Its working principle is that the pressure at both ends of the piston remains equal through internal passages, but since one side of the piston is connected to the piston rod, resulting in different cross-sectional areas on both sides, a thrust towards the side with the smaller cross-sectional area is generated under gas pressure, which is the elastic force of the pneumatic rod. During operation, lifting the control lever beneath the seat unlocks it, allowing the user's body weight to control the smooth descent of the height adjustment shaft; when the external force is removed, the shaft rises again.
The reclining mechanism includes three types: back reclining, seat reclining, and synchronous reclining. The back reclining mechanism allows the backrest to recline while keeping the seat level; the seat reclining mechanism enables the seat and backrest to recline together, maintaining a constant angle between them, and is further divided into center-mounted and front-mounted types; the synchronous reclining mechanism allows the seat and backrest to shift synchronously, conforming to the body's state during reclining and providing better fit and support. In terms of operation, there are wired control, mechanical control, and self-weight control adjustments, with reclining locks including stepped locking and follow-back locking.
