New Office Chair Policy
The new office chair policy is mainly reflected in aspects such as price caps, minimum service life, and configuration requirements, along with recommended guidelines to promote long-term effective use.

Price Caps: The new policy clearly limits the prices of office chairs for personnel at different levels. The price of office chairs for department-level officials cannot exceed 1,500 yuan, while those for section-level officials and below cannot exceed 800 yuan. This regulation aims to reasonably control office costs, avoid excessive procurement of high-priced office chairs, and ensure the rational use of public resources.
Minimum Service Life: The minimum service life of office chairs is set at 15 years. This means that, before reaching this period, office chairs should not be updated in principle unless they are damaged beyond repair. Even if the service life has been reached, if the office chairs are still usable, they should continue to be used. This regulation helps extend the service life of office chairs and reduce unnecessary waste and procurement frequency.
Configuration Requirements: When configuring office furniture, central administrative units must fully consider the office layout to ensure simplicity and practicality of the furniture. At the same time, no luxury furniture should be configured, and no precious wood should be used. This requirement reflects the policy's emphasis on resource conservation and opposition to extravagance and waste, helping to create a clean and upright office environment.
In addition, the "Guidelines on Specifications and Performance of General Office Furniture for Central Administrative Institutions" issued by the National Government Offices Administration provide recommended indicators for the specifications and performance of office chairs. These indicators cover aspects such as surface physicochemical properties, mechanical properties, and environmental requirements, aiming to promote the long-term effective use of general office furniture. Although these indicators and parameters are recommended and not mandatory, they provide useful references for procurement units and help improve the quality and durability of office chairs.
