New Office Chair Adjustment

Admin October 09, 2026

The adjustment methods for new office chairs mainly include headrest, height, backrest, and armrest adjustments, with specific operations as follows:

Headrest Adjustment: Taking the Qingxian Dynamic Ergonomic Chair as an example, the headrest supports height adjustment. Users can move it up and down by pulling the headrest. Some models also support forward and backward adjustments to accommodate different neck support needs. When adjusting, hold both sides of the headrest with both hands and slowly pull or push it to the desired position, avoiding excessive force that could damage the components.

Height Adjustment: Office chair height adjustment typically relies on hand-operated controls such as levers, knobs, or pump levers. While seated, pulling up the lever or turning the knob allows for gradual adjustment of the seat height. It is recommended to adjust in increments of a few centimeters at a time until your feet are flat on the ground and your knees are bent at a 90ยฐ angle. If adjustment is difficult, try operating while standing, aligning the front of the chair with just below your knees. Some models require repeated up-and-down pumping of the lever (similar to inflating a bicycle tire) to achieve height adjustment, maintaining a continuous motion until the desired height is reached.

Backrest Adjustment: The recline function is activated by pulling the adjustment handle located beneath the seat. Once seated securely, pull the handle and lean back slightly to lock the backrest at the desired angle. To return to an upright position, pull the handle again and lean forward; the backrest will automatically spring back. If you need to adjust the degree of backrest recline, look for the lever beneath the right armrest. To control the range of forward and backward rocking, rotate the black cylinder in front of the chair's gas lift. Turning it clockwise or counterclockwise will reduce or expand the rocking range, respectively.

Armrest Adjustment: Some office chairs have armrests that support height adjustment. Users can raise or lower them by pressing the buttons on the sides of the armrests or turning the adjustment knobs to match the height of the desk and reduce shoulder strain. If the armrests interfere with activities (such as playing the piano or exercising), refer to the instruction manual for removal. This usually involves loosening the fixing screws or pressing the clips and lifting the armrests upward.

Precautions: Before adjusting, ensure the chair is in a stable position and avoid operating it while moving. If the adjustment mechanism is stuck, check for obstructions or worn components and avoid forcing it. After prolonged use, it is advisable to regularly check the tightness of the screws to ensure the adjustment functions work properly.
