How to Disassemble Office Chairs
Admin October 09, 2026
The disassembly of office chairs requires selecting the appropriate method based on the specific model and design. Here are some common disassembly steps:

I. Disassembly Steps for the Belcr Office Chair BC03Q Deluxe Edition
- Headrest Section: Pull the headrest to its highest position, press down firmly on the thin metal strip in the middle, and pull it out once it becomes loose (you can use a hard card to assist in separation).
- Armrest Section: Invert the chair on a high platform, use the hex wrench that comes with the box to loosen the screws beneath the armrests, and then separate the armrests.
- Separation of the Backrest and Base:
- Use a hex wrench to remove the screws connecting the backrest and the base;
- For the base, use a rubber mallet to tap the five feet of the star-shaped base to separate them from the gas spring, and then tap the steel plate on the base to separate the gas spring.
- Star-shaped Base and Casters: Simply pull out the casters with force.
II. Disassembly Steps for General Ergonomic Chairs (Without Professional Tools)
- Headrest:
- If it is a slip-on design, pull it out vertically directly;
- If it is secured with screws, use a hex wrench to loosen the screws and then remove it.
- Armrests: The screws are usually located on the back frame or the seat frame. Use a screwdriver to loosen them (manual operation may be required if space is limited).
- Backrest and Chassis: Lay the chair down, loosen the three screws connecting the back frame and the chassis, and remove the back frame.
- Gas Cylinder and Chair Feet: Use a hammer with a towel underneath to tap the connection points between the gas cylinder and the chassis and the chair feet, separate them, and then pull out the gas cylinder.
III. Disassembly Steps for Lifting Chairs/Swivel Chairs
Removing the Gas Cylinder: Face the chair directly, step on the star-shaped base with your feet, pull the lifting handle to its highest position and hold it, grasp the chair body with both hands, shake it left and right, and pull out the gas cylinder upwards.
Precautions
- Preparation Before Disassembly: It is recommended to take photos of the original structure for reference during assembly; keep all small parts (such as screws, adapters, instruction manuals) and pack them properly.
- Operational Safety: Pay attention to the force when using tools to avoid damaging the chair or getting injured; when tapping the gas cylinder, use a towel underneath to prevent scratches.
- Special Designs: Some chairs may adopt hidden screws or snap-fit structures. Observe the instruction manual or contact after-sales service to confirm the disassembly method.
Tip: If the chair has a complex structure or involves warranty issues, it is recommended to contact the brand's after-sales service or professional repair personnel first for operation.
