How to Disassemble an Office Chair
The disassembly steps for an office chair (taking the Beๆฐช Office Chair BC03Q Deluxe Edition as an example) are as follows:

Headrest Removal Pull the headrest to its highest position and locate the thin metal strip at the connection point between the headrest and the backrest (usually in the middle). Press down firmly on the metal strip with your hand, and once you feel the latch loosen, pull the headrest straight up. If the latch is tight, you can use a hard card (such as a bank card) to assist in pressing down on the metal strip, avoiding direct pressure on your fingers.
Armrest Removal Invert the chair onto a stable, elevated platform (such as a table) to ensure sufficient operating space. Use the hex wrench that comes with the chair to loosen the fixing screws beneath the armrests (usually 1-2 screws per armrest). Once the screws are loose, grasp both ends of the armrests with your hands and gently pull them outward to separate them.
Backrest and Base Separation Continue using the hex wrench to remove the screws at the connection point between the backrest and the base (usually located beneath the backrest or along the edge of the base plate). When separating, use a rubber mallet (or a hammer wrapped in a regular towel) to gently tap the edges of the five-star feet and the connection point between the base plate and the gas spring, loosening the latches between the gas spring, the five-star feet, and the base through vibration. If the gas spring does not separate completely, repeat the tapping and gently shake the backrest.
Five-Star Feet and Wheel Removal Lay the separated five-star feet flat and grasp the base of the wheels with your hand and pull them straight out. If the wheels are tight due to long-term use, rotate them slightly left and right before pulling them out, avoiding the use of hard objects to strike them, which could damage the wheels.
Additional Operations for Other Types of Office Chairs
- Gas Cylinder Separation: For some chairs, face the chair directly, step on the five-star feet, and move the height adjustment lever to its highest position. Grasp the chair body with both hands and shake it left and right, using inertia to pull out the gas cylinder upwards (be aware of the high pressure inside the gas cylinder and avoid rapid release).
Precautions
- Tool Retention: It is recommended to use the tools that come with the chair (such as a hex wrench and rubber mallet) during disassembly to avoid using mismatched tools that could cause the screws to strip.
- Component Organization: After separation, arrange the components in order and store small accessories (such as screws and adapters) separately to prevent loss.
- Safe Operation: When tapping or pulling components, wear gloves to prevent cuts; if the gas spring is aged, keep it away from your face during disassembly to avoid injury from high-pressure gas ejection.
