How to Connect an Office Chair

Admin October 10, 2026

The steps for connecting an office chair are as follows:

  1. Install the Base and Hydraulic Rod
Press each of the universal wheels (casters) firmly into the five ends of the metal five-star base, ensuring that the clips are fully embedded for secure fixation. Then, insert the thicker end with a hole of the hydraulic rod (pressure lift rod) vertically into the center hole of the five-star base. Make sure the direction is perpendicular to the plane of the five-star base to avoid instability due to tilting.

  2. Assemble the Seat Adjustment Components
According to the instructions or accessory diagrams, align the adjustment rod components (such as height adjustment or tilt control rods) with the reserved holes on the back of the seat surface and use the matching screws for preliminary fixation. Note that the screws should be fully inserted but not tightened yet to allow for subsequent angle adjustments.

  3. Connect the Backrest and Armrests
Preliminarily assemble the backrest and armrests with screws. Here, the screws only need to be screwed in to a depth of 2/3, leaving some room for movement to facilitate alignment with the seat cushion later. If the accessories include plastic clips or limiters, install them simultaneously to prevent misalignment of the components.

  4. Secure the Seat and Backrest Components
Align the not-fully-fixed armrest-backrest assembly with the reserved holes on the edge of the seat cushion. Use four long screws to penetrate upwards from the bottom of the seat cushion and tighten them. Tighten the backrest connection screws simultaneously to ensure that the backrest is perpendicular to the seat cushion at 90ยฐ or in accordance with the design angle. When operating, use tools to tighten the screws alternately to avoid structural misalignment due to unilateral force.

  5. Install the Tray and Connect to the Hydraulic Rod
Flip the entire chair over so that the back is facing up. Remove the temporarily fixed screws at the bottom of the seat cushion, align the tray (including the control mechanism) with the holes, and install and tighten it. Then, hoist the seat assembly onto the top of the hydraulic rod, ensuring that the connection hole at the center of the tray fully fits with the top of the hydraulic rod. Gently press until you hear a 'click' sound, indicating that the clip is in place.

  6. Final Inspection and Adjustment
After installation, check that all screws are tightened, especially at the connections between the hydraulic rod and the five-star base, and between the tray and the seat. Test the seat's lifting and tilting functions with the adjustment rod to ensure they are working properly. At the same time, slide the office chair to confirm that the universal wheels rotate smoothly and without wobbling. If any abnormalities are found, re-check the tightness of the screws or the alignment of the components in the corresponding steps.

Key Tip: Avoid using excessive force during the installation process, especially when connecting the hydraulic rod to the five-star base and the tray. Incorrect operation may damage the internal structure. If the accessories include grease or thread-locking adhesive, apply it to the threaded parts according to the instructions to enhance stability.
