Groove Office Chair Wheels

Admin October 09, 2026

The removal and installation of groove office chair wheels require the use of groove structures and hammers. The specific steps are as follows:

Removing Old Wheels

  1. Invert the Chair: Place the office chair upside down steadily, ensuring the seat faces downward and the wheels face upward to prevent the chair from wobbling or tipping over during operation. This step provides a stable working space for subsequent hammering.
  2. Secure the Bracket: Use one hand to firmly hold the metal bracket of the chair (i.e., the axle part connecting the wheels) to prevent it from moving or deforming due to the reaction force during hammering.
  3. Hammer the Wheels: Use a hammer (it is recommended to choose a rubber hammer or a wooden hammer to avoid damaging the wheels or the bracket with a metal hammer) and aim at the connection between the wheels and the bracket. Gently hammer repeatedly along the axial direction of the wheels. The hammering force should be moderate to avoid breaking the bracket due to excessive force. Continue hammering until the wheels gradually loosen due to vibration and eventually detach from the groove. If the wheels are stuck, you can try inserting a screwdriver into the gap between the wheels and the bracket to assist in prying, but be cautious to avoid damage.

Installing New Wheels

  1. Align the Grooves: Align the axle hole of the new wheels with the groove on the bracket to ensure the correct direction of the wheels (for example, caster wheels should maintain rotational freedom).
  2. Hammer for Insertion: Gently hammer the top of the wheels along the axial direction of the wheels with a hammer to gradually insert the wheel axle into the groove of the bracket. During hammering, continuously observe the fit between the wheels and the bracket to ensure that the wheels are fully inserted and do not wobble. If the groove is deep, you can hammer in stages and check the insertion depth after each hammering.
  3. Test the Stability: After installation, place the chair upright again, manually rotate the wheels and push the chair to check if the wheels rotate smoothly without jamming or abnormal noises. If the wheels are loose, they need to be removed again and the hammering force or direction adjusted.

Precautions

  • Tool Selection: Give priority to using rubber hammers or wooden hammers to reduce the risk of damage to the wheels or the bracket caused by metal hammers.
  • Force Control: Avoid hammering too hard, especially when removing old wheels. Excessive hammering may cause the bracket to deform or wheel fragments to fly.
  • Safety Protection: It is recommended to wear gloves during operation to prevent hand injuries from the edges of the wheels or tools.
  • Wheel Matching: Ensure that the model and size of the new wheels are the same as those of the original wheels to avoid installation difficulties or abnormal use due to mismatching.
