Adjustable Office Chair Safety
Adjustable office chairs from reputable brands are generally safe, but attention must be paid to product selection and usage norms to avoid risks. Their safety primarily depends on the design and quality of the gas lift cylinder, but poor-quality products or improper use can pose safety hazards, requiring scientific prevention from the following three aspects:

1. The gas lift cylinder is the core of safety and must be rigorously verified for quality
As the core component of an adjustable chair, the gas lift cylinder is typically filled with high-purity nitrogen or other inert gases inside, wrapped with thickened steel plates externally, and undergoes strict factory inspections such as 120,000 lift tests. Regular products also have a 3mm explosion-proof steel plate installed at the bottom to further reduce the risk of explosion impact. However, poor-quality products may use high-pressure air instead of nitrogen, increasing gas reactivity; or during high temperatures or frequent lifting, the pressure inside the gas lift cylinder may surge, causing structural rupture. According to statistics, 90% of explosion accidents are related to the use of unbranded products or chairs that have not been replaced for a long time, so verifying the quality of the gas lift cylinder is crucial.
2. Two key labels must be checked during purchase
- Gas lift cylinder label: Regular products must have the manufacturer's code and S09001 certification mark clearly marked on the gas lift cylinder. The former can trace the production source, and the latter proves that it has passed international quality management system audits.
- Brand and test report: Prioritize professional manufacturers such as Yooyee and Sihoo, or products from NetEase Yanxuan that provide third-party test reports. These brands typically use gas lift cylinders that comply with the national standard GB/T 10357.4-2013, with their pressure resistance, sealing, and other indicators rigorously tested.
3. Usage and maintenance must follow norms
- Control usage frequency: Avoid frequent lifting more than 10 times a day to reduce metal fatigue caused by repeated pressure on the gas lift cylinder.
- Regular inspection and maintenance: If oil leakage from the gas lift cylinder, abnormal noise during lifting, or aging cracks on the chair base or wheels are found, stop using and replace immediately.
- Avoid high-temperature environments: Stay away from heating and direct sunlight areas in summer, as high temperatures can accelerate gas expansion; it is recommended to get up and move around for 5 minutes every hour to avoid localized high temperatures caused by prolonged static pressure.
It should be emphasized that even regular products should avoid extreme usage situations, such as using the chair to bear a load exceeding the nominal value (usually 100-120kg) or striking the gas lift cylinder with sharp objects. By selecting scientifically and using normatively, the safety of adjustable office chairs can be maximally guaranteed.
