Nantong Library

Nantong Library was founded in 1912 by Zhang Jian, the last imperial scholar of the late Qing Dynasty, modern industrialist, and educator, and is one of China's early public libraries. Building a modern library here today—one that clearly traces the century-long trajectory from China's modern libraries to those of the new century, carries historical vicissitudes, embodies the Jianghai cultural heritage, and bears the features of the times—has given birth to a remarkable library!
