Yihang x Yunnan Technology and Business University: Smart Dormitories Redefine Campus Life

As one of China's first cohort of high-level application-oriented undergraduate institutions, Yunnan Technology and Business University adopted Yihang office furniture solutions to build smart dormitories that “understand application and understand students.” Through refined design fused with smart technology, the project delivers a comprehensive upgrade—from living space to behavior support, and from meeting basic functions to empowering personal growth.

1. A Smart Living System Where Space Supports Diverse Behaviors

The double rooms use a left–right zoning design: the left side integrates storage and rest functions, while the right side features an upholstered bench and a round table, forming a compound corner for both academic discussion and casual socializing.

The wardrobes combine a full-length mirror with sensor lighting, and Yihang's custom multifunctional student desks come with multiple interface types and a pegboard storage system, improving space efficiency and everyday convenience.

2. Independent Immersive Units Balancing Focus and Health

The four-person rooms emphasize the independence and comfort of personal space; each bed is fitted with a privacy curtain to form an immersive rest unit.

Integrated desk-and-wardrobe units free up floor space, while stairway steps double as drawer storage. Combined with independent LED lighting and a dedicated reading light system, the design scientifically protects eyesight and builds a healthy, focused living environment.

3. A Growth-Empowerment Platform: From Sleeping Quarters to Compound Space

The dormitory renovation embeds the “application-oriented” education philosophy into the space's DNA. Yihang's dormitory furniture not only resolves traditional functional pain points but builds smart scenarios that support study, rest, socializing, and personal growth—evolving the dormitory into a compound platform for students' all-round development.
