Yihang Introduces Green Design for Sustainable Growth

Admin September 28, 2026

In today's complex and ever-changing world,

as environmental challenges grow ever more pressing,

Yihang stays true to its philosophy of sustainable development,

focusing its innovative vision on green design,

following the "3R" core principles:

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle โ€”

reducing environmental pollution and energy consumption,

and recycling or reusing products and components.

1. Mapping Sustainable Materials

Sustained innovation lies in the environmental credentials of the materials themselves, and in close collaboration and innovation with value-chain partners.

Our newly upgraded no-added-formaldehyde panels contain no formaldehyde added during production. MDI adhesive is becoming today's "no added formaldehyde" solution, reducing formaldehyde in furniture at the source.

Yihang's new product โ€” the HAFU Air healthy seating chair โ€” was jointly developed by Yihang and the Swiss design studio B4K and holds 22 product patents. Made from ocean-friendly plastic, it keeps nearly 15 tons of plastic waste out of marine ecosystems every year. At just 12 kg, its lightweight design is green and low-carbon, with a reduced carbon footprint.

Beyond new materials science and protection concepts, Yihang also explores innovative eco-friendly materials and technologies together with value-chain partners.

At the same time, working with multiple partners across its industry chain on "sustainable materials" research, Yihang focuses on the application of bio-based waterborne coatings, biomass sponge, microfiber materials, furniture adhesives, and post-consumer recycled plastics in office furniture โ€” lowering the carbon footprint of Yihang's products and supporting the industry's low-carbon, green development.

2. Modular Design for Flexible Reconfiguration

Modularity is a design approach built on the idea of "manufacturing multiple independent sub-units, or modules, that combine to form diverse finished designs."

Yihang's Dimension screen series offers a wide range of screens, desktops, and storage cabinets. This modular design can be flexibly combined to adapt to different ways of working, adding flexibility and interactivity to the office space.

This modular design approach enables personalized customization of space, function, color, and more โ€” while also supporting mass production, easy shipping, and the interchangeability and replacement of parts, bringing both innovation and environmental benefits.

3. Giving Old Furniture New Life

Renewal means letting go of the old. Vast quantities of office furniture are discarded as waste, causing enormous waste and environmental harm โ€” but recycling can give old furniture new life.

Under the JOS&Yihang brand, a flagship office furniture circular-reuse pilot project was launched in Singapore in January 2023: the Great Eastern Insurance Group's old furniture recovery program. Recovered old office furniture is graded into categories A, B, and C and given a second life in different ways.

For example, pieces are donated to low-income organizations, or sold in charity sales so the furniture finds new value and returns to people's lives โ€” with all proceeds going to environmental and charitable causes.

Green, sustainable design

will become an unavoidable question of our era,

with positive effects on the environment and human health,

ultimately leading us toward

a healthier, better future.
