Self-made Office Chair
Admin October 11, 2026
When making an office chair by yourself, you can refer to the methods of making a simple folding chair and a comfortable wooden chair, as detailed below:

Method for Making a Simple Folding Chair
- Prepare materials and tools: Select a piece of woodworking board of an appropriate size as the main material. Masking tape is used for surface covering and assisting in drawing. You also need to prepare pens, sandpaper, hole openers, hinges, and various cutting tools.
- Surface treatment and drawing: Evenly stick the masking tape on the surface of the woodworking board to ensure full coverage. Use a pen to carefully draw the required pattern on the masking tape. During the drawing process, use the tools reasonably to ensure the pattern is neat and accurate, laying a good foundation for subsequent cutting.
- Cutting and sanding: Cut according to the drawn pattern using the tools. If the pattern is unclear during cutting, you can pause the operation or take a screenshot for careful study. For parts that require curved cutting, cut precisely along the curve. After cutting, tear off the masking tape and carefully sand the edges and corners with sandpaper until the surface is smooth to avoid scratching the skin during use.
- Assembly and fixation: Put the sanded parts together. Use a hole opener to make small circular holes at appropriate positions and install the hinges. Turn the seat over and continue to install the hinges for fixation to ensure a firm connection. Finally, open the chair, find the support points and mark them, and use tools to make two corner holes so that the chair can fit snugly inside and achieve the folding function.
Method for Making a Comfortable Wooden Chair
- Build the frame: First, prepare four square pieces of wood and fix them into a square frame, which is the basic structure of the wooden chair. Ensure the stability and firmness of the frame.
- Install the long wooden board: Lay the built square frame flat. Fix a piece of wood on the inner sides of both ends of the long wooden board. This step can increase the comfort and stability of the chair, making the person sitting on it more relaxed.
