Rest Office Chair Assembly

Admin October 19, 2026

The assembly of a rest office chair can be carried out according to the following steps, which are applicable to most common models with gas rods and five-star base designs:

I. Pre-assembly Preparation

  1. Environment and Unboxing: Choose a well-lit and flat area for unboxing, and categorize and place all components.
  2. Inventory of Parts: This includes a five-star base (seat base), 5 casters, a gas rod, a seat pan (chassis), a seat (cushion), a backrest, armrests, a screw package, and installation tools.
  3. Prepare Tools: The core tools are screwdrivers (Phillips/flat-head) that fit the screws or a low-torque electric screwdriver, and Allen wrenches; auxiliary tools include a rubber mallet (for installing the gas rod) and a tape measure (for adjustment assistance); if professional tools are not available, pliers can be used as a temporary substitute for wrenches, but care should be taken to avoid stripping the screws.

II. Core Assembly Steps

  1. Install the Five-Star Base and Casters

    • Place the five-star base with the front side up, take a caster, align the metal rod with the base hole, and press vertically until you hear a 'click' sound indicating it is secure; if it is a threaded type, tighten it clockwise.
    • After installation, gently shake the five-star base to check if the casters are secure.
  2. Install the Gas Rod

    • Ensure the center hole of the five-star base is facing up, insert the thicker end (with a hole) of the gas rod vertically into the center hole, and press firmly to the bottom.
    • If there is a plastic protective cap on the top end of the gas rod, remove it in advance.
  3. Install the Seat Chassis (Seat Pan)

    • Flip the seat so that the bottom is facing up, remove the pre-installed screws, and align the seat pan with the holes (note that the height adjustment lever is on the front side).
    • After initially hand-tightening all the screws, use the 'diagonal tightening method': first tighten two screws on the diagonal, then tighten the other two, and repeat this process 2-3 times to ensure the seat pan is evenly stressed and not skewed.
  4. Connect the Seat to the Gas Rod

    • Lift the seat with the installed seat pan, align the center hole of the seat pan with the top end of the gas rod, and press vertically to fit the seat onto the gas rod.
  5. Install the Backrest and Armrests

    • First, hand-tighten the screws at the bottom of the seat cushion, then lay the chair on its side, align the armrest frames with the holes on the backrest, hand-tighten the screws to secure them, and then tighten them with tools.
  6. Install the Footrest (if applicable)

    • Hand-tighten the screws of the footrest and then tighten them one by one with tools, and install the foot glides and end caps. When tapping the end caps, you can use your foot to stabilize the chair to ensure that the screws are smoothly hand-tightened before being reinforced with tools.

III. Precautions

  • Avoid applying excessive force during operation to prevent damage to components, especially the gas rod and plastic clips.
  • If the screw holes do not align, check if the components are oriented correctly and do not force the screws in.
  • After assembly, gently shake the chair to check if all connections are secure.
